hey guys i was wondering if its worth getting a tutor , i found one which 25 an hour & half which is good and not expensive , but i was a c grade student in methods and was wondering if i should get one im aiming for a 40 in methods is that out of the question, yes i have a strong cohort this year. im the kind of student that understands the concepts , but when it comes to tests and sacs my marks dont show it. i think i unserstand it but i  dont know it enough to teach it to someone

i would like advice on how a student like me not very good at methods can achieve 35-to 40. im motivated and will put the hard yards in. do i have to be ahead of the class so when the teacher is reinforcing a new topic it will be the second time for me to hear it.

also im using the essential book,. is their other books that can help me with sacs through out the year and will be challenging.

Don't fret too much about getting other books as Essential has a wealth of resources itself(assuming you have the CD version). Only get a tutor if you don't fully understand the material. Yr 12 Methods is really just a small step up from Yr 11 Methids. It will mostly be revision for you. As for getting ahead, if you get ahead by two or three chapters you should be very well off. However you need to know those chapters back to front. If you know the material but are making mistakes, keep a log book and write down every mistake you make. Once you have amassed enough mistakes look through them and see which ones keep coming up. Sorry if I wafted on a bit, just my two cents.

+1, dw if you weren't performing as you'd like in year 11, as most of the concepts (combinatorics and permutations - the hard topics - aren't in 3/4!) are repeated and only just extended. Prob will be new to you, but it is 90% CAS work and fairly straightforward compared to 1/2 prob imo. Try working for a month or two by yourself, if you find you aren't managing, then maybe get a tutor, but really give it a go yourself first. Good luck! :)

Nah, mostly Calculus and Functions actually for exam 1. A more even split for exam 2. :)

Although I hated probability in units 1/2 I must say I loved it in units 3/4. :P
3/4 probability in my opinion is a lot easier and straightforward. :D
