Linux?

Anyone here use Linux as a regular alternative? I recently borked my computer so I've needed to either recompile a new distro or just stick with Gentoo Hardened. I think I might go back down to Kubuntu; don't really do that much work on Gentoo any more and worst comes to worst I can compile w/e I need on Kubuntu anyway. Either that or OpenBSD. Anyone got any ideas?

No.

My alternative to Windows is a good book.

Been using Gentoo since 2004, have been reasonably involved with the project in the past. What do you look for in a distribution?

I've only used Linux a few times on my proper desktop computer, but otherwise not really and I've only tried few distrobutions like Ubuntu, Arch and Gentoo.  What's really great is that out school provided us with netbooks through some moot program, the netbooks themselves are pretty heavy on the restrictions, so what I've done is made a bootable  32GB USB flash drive with Ubuntu on it and use that without any restrictions at home haha.  Personally, i think these things come down to taste, i really disliked Arch but loved Gentoo (or well, for the few days that I used it) possibly try both?  I've heard great things about OpenBSD.
