Yes, but it's for FFPs and we were talking about CSPs

If I end up getting a FFP (knowing my luck I'll just miss out on a CSP -_-) I'll have to reject it. There's no way I'll be able to afford the $260,000 cost. I'd really like to do the Melbourne MD, but I'll be applying interstate (when the time comes) and I will end up taking the best offer.

Don't forget there's Monash Gippsland and Deakin Geelong who have postgrad med in Victoria too.

Lol so let's say you're stuck with a BioMed degree; where to now?

I think he means he will do biomed, and then apply to interstate grad programs.

Yeah that's essentially what I meant. I'll apply at many universities And just hope all goes well.

I think what Golden was trying to say was, if you don't end up getting selected into a med school, what would you do with a degree in Biomedicine? What options are available to you and what's plan B?

alsoo, does a specific major in a Biomedicine/Science course influence the possibility of you getting an offer to attend a med school?

Would someone with a major in Immunology be preferred over someone who majored in mathematics?

I know we're told that UoM doesn't give preference to Biomed students over Science students when offering places for the MD, but do other universities? Like Deakin or ANU?

Oh that makes sense, my bad. And for melb uni, no there should be no preference. Not sure about other unis though, but I still doubt they would give certain majors preferences over others. I checked sydney and they don't seem to have preferences either.

Don't think I've seen any postgrad med uni which prefers a certain degree over another, may be wrong though.

As it's a combination of GAMSAT, GPA and Interview, there really wan't a definitive cut-off. There was a thread back were people posted results and such and pagingdr has one as well. Just search around.

If I don't get accepted, I'll probably take a GAP year and work full time and then reapply the year after. Will help me save money for a potential loan should I need it.

65 and 6.5 for an interview I guess, dc can correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's a rough guide to the cutoff (but its only going up, especially in your year with the 40 less places)

You do all your clinical training at a rural site (years 2,3,4). Your research project in year 4 can be done in a metro area. You will probably have some metro rotations (ie cardiothoracicminiultralaporoscopic surgery where the facilities don't exist in rural areas).

That's it in a nutshell, check the med.unimelb website for the FAQS doc and the other info (list of sites etc.)

Can anyone confirm?
