Atar vs umat?

Over all the undergraduate medicine courses in Australia what is more important the atar score or umat. I know these are both vital aspects in gaining entry into an undergraduate medicine course although if one had to be slightly lower and one slightly higher which would be better? For example: student 1 gets 99.90 and 92 umat, whereas student 2 gets 98.4 and 100 umat. If both of these students have solid interviews who would be more likely to gain an offer?

Depends what uni. I think James Cook doesn't even look at the UMAT score, whereas Monash seems to take greater notice of the UMAT (based of the experiences of people on AN)
It really does depend on the uni though

Looking overall for the majority of the universities that offer Undergraduate medicine, I would say it depends on the university. I mean, you're excluding the interview. Do some research brah.

Ultimately, I'd say UMAT counts for more. You can't even get an interview without a good one, and it's game over from there. On the other hand, a low ATAR with a high UMAT and a good interview may not rule out your chances. I've got a friend who got ~95 ATAR or so who got it due to his 100 percentile UMAT. Had another friend who got into the ERC cohort with a sub-90 ATAR. So in terms of Monash at least, clearly UMAT is important. However, there's that ATAR stream now isn't there? Don't know too much about it but the impression I get is either scenario works really.
