This is a hard cartoon for me to analyse :-[

Someone please explain the caption to me. I half understand it...

Just a brainstrom of ideas or things you guys find significant in this cartoon, would be insanely helpful.

One obvious one to start off: The road signifies like its a long way to recovery/safety or something like that.. but it could also represent hope? And maybe the fact that the car doesn't have wheels or isn't on the road to begin with means it makes it even harder maybe?

I'd probably only go as far as your first idea, and then leave it at that if you must, although I'd prefer to comment on the depth of the picture in another manner (point 1 below). Your hope one is getting a bit too 'creative'.

Other things to comment on;
1. The vastness and depth of the terrain just shows the degree of destruction, and how little they have left.
2. The bland colours accentuate the emptiness stated in 1.
3. The comment is pretty much saying that people shouldn't be bitching about their losses due to the financial crisis, when those involved in the bushfires lost so much more.
4. Yes, the car being off the road I guess shows the extent of the calamity created in the bushfires.
