Last year for yr 11, I studied Brave New World, Wuthering Heights and Medea.

Its a film... Yeah, i really liked it, kinda reminds me of in time

In Time kinda sucked to be honest. The idea of the film was great but then the ending was kind of a let down... it was like they didn't know how to end it. Gattaca kicks its ass any day :P I wish I had the chance to study it.

I'm more fond of the ideas behind both movies than the actual films ... But gattaca does give in time a good ass whipping ... Yeah, i'm really excited to study gattca (yes, english excites me) I love both brave new world and wuthering heights ... Havent read medea, is it worth it?

Haha, English used to excite me too... but now it's all serious :o I didn't have the best yr 11 teacher. He taught me close to zip.

I wouldn't have read Medea if I'd had a choice (and I like reading). Maybe it's alright as a read for enjoyment but it was incredibly frustrating to study. I could never side with either Medea or Jason (which is the main dilemma of the play). It's one of those texts which could be argued from both sides. If you're into Greek mythology, I guess it couldn't not please you.

Wha: smoeone gets to do The Book Thief for English! No fair!
Macbeth: one of the best plays I've studied so far. <3 Murder
Pride and Prejudice: I think I've memorised the first volume by now. :

Because I'm lazy: is anyone doing debating out there this year?

Have any of you guys studied Romeo and Juliet and not thought of it as a great love story, but instead  viewed it as two naive teenagers infatuated with each other.  Juliet drinking poison for a guy she met like a month ago. Seriously stupid or what and she was 14. Any how Macbeth looks way better than Romeo and Juliet.

OMG, yes!!
Macbeth>R and J

But, come on: one day, you'll meet someone you would be willing to die for, I hope.
Also, you have to excuse her shallowness: she's 14. The power of first love etc. I suppose. And the fact that it is a PLAY, not REALITY. Plays show the readers, like novels, the author's views on the world. Shakespeare probs saw that rashness overpowers pretty much everything.

I think when I studied Romeo and Juliet, my teacher told us that it happened over a couple of days?? Which would make them really naive and stupid >_>
Macbeth is good if you like murder bahaha :P

OMG yes!! I havent studied it but I read it - just shows how teenagers never change  :P
Lets just say, it wasnt Shakespeare's piece of cake IMO, although it seems to be the most renowned
I studied Macbeth last year and I liked it but my favourite would have to be The Tempest

True that. However Hamlet sounds all right as well. :)

Has anyone watched the film 'crash' because we're gonna watch it for our context of 'discrimination'? Is it any good?  ::)

Crash won an academy award :o must be good

I dislike doing films for english, but it sound pretty interesting accoring to BING.
Hamlet's alright, but I'd say the best would still be Macbeth. Lady Macbeth is always amazing in live plays.
