Relevance of VCE Physics to any uni studies related to the eyes

I haven't done any VCE physics, but I'm thinking that I might be interested in studying optometry/ophthalmology etc. in uni. Some universities say that VCE physics is 'assumed knowledge' but not a prerequisite. Would I be at any great disadvantage? Since the last physics related thing I studied was probably in year 10 (and I had a crap teacher)

I assume you should know something about optics and waves if you're studying eyes. Ophthalmology is a medical specialty though so you would need to go through med school first.

I'm not in uni yet... so no, I'm not studying eyes yet. I'm just interested in it at the moment. I'm in year 12 this year and none of my subjects are physics, so that's why I'm asking.
My subjects are: English, Biology (last year), Chemistry, Methods, Further and Latin.
