Welcome, and good luck for the coming year! :)

My first SAC is in around a month...I can't believe people have had theirs already :o It seems like everything's happening so fast, haha.

Also, does anyone else's school get netbooks this year? I'm on mine now and it's pretty cool having computers in class! It also means I get to go on AN more :P

I go to a laptop school, so it was compulsory for me since yr 6 to have a lappie. :)
But AN is blocked at my school.
Same with MSN/Facebook. (Not that I have them, of course.)

Lucky! We're still adjusting to them. xD Sucks about AN being blocked, but I can understand why social networking sites are.

We got netbooks last year. Ugh, what a nightmare! I don't think they've been any good at all. They're super slow and the battery runs out very quickly - and we're not allowed to charge them at school. What's even more annoying is that when it comes to exam time, you need to refer to your exercise book and your netbook, so it's more complicated.

That sucks. I hope you're not being forced to use them all the time. :/
I haven't personally experienced any of those problems (yet), but it's getting annoying carrying them around. They make everything seem so heavy...

The only real benefit to netbooks for me so far, apart from the internet access, has been that my tables are looking a lot neater...:P

:o
I wouldn't want to bash into one of those while walking, lol.

I guess one of the few benefits having your own personal netbook is actually having computer access to your work all the time. What bothers me is that our school is sort of sitting on the fence - we use books and netbooks equally. I believe you should either completely embrace the computer system or you fully stick to the book system. Otherwise, it's very messy and confusing.

I could get all the PDF files onto my netbook, but I prefer to flick through pages, rather than scroll up and down. It's also much easier if you want to move to pages far away from each other quickly. Hence, after a lot of begging, my parents are going to buy me the new iPad when it comes out. That way, I can still 'flick' through pages but I don't need to take my books home anymore! :D

I don't want to turn this into a debate, but I would totally prefer using textbooks to laptops!!
The amount of problems it causes!:

That's fine, name of student. Hand it to me when you're laptop is fine.

GAH! The kid ovbs hasn't done it!

At our school, laptops were introduced so that the following excuses were no longer valid:

- I didn't have computer access
- I don't have internet access
- I have a Mac and my work's incompatible
- I don't have a printer
- My printer ran out of ink
- My printer broke
- I forgot to put it on my USB

Does your school strongly monitor your netbooks? We have this software called Impero and basically they see everything we're doing. We can't get away with anything! ;(
