you guys are so lucky that u can choose to take only four subjects in year 12.
My school doesn't allow us to do that.  :-[

It's probably best not to. My school let my year level do 2 VCE subjects in year 11 and regretted it hard. I'd say the vast majority of the students taking on 2 3/4s at my school this year would have been better off saving one for the next year in all honesty. So now my school only lets us do one in year 11 so luckily I got away with it haha.

It depends, but even if people do two 3/4s in Year 11 and were disappointed with their results, they should still be able to select five 3/4s for Year 12. It just means that their lowest score won't count.

Yeah exactly.

My problem is that it's a little embarrassing get a low score, having said that I've started to simply say I don't care about what they think :)
I wanted to drop physics, but now that I think of it.. the little score under 5 I will get for it, would be better than simply dropping it.

I'm assuming you won't break a 40 for Physics (no offence) going by the 'lol' in your sig.. You could just be better off dropping physics and upping your aims for other subjects. Your exam study load  = decreased, homework/study load = decreased (perhaps not decreased, but more focused on the others, more time to focus on other subs during free periods, and you get out of a subject you don't like.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

You won't have to repeat Physics again, but you can pick an extra 3/4 that doesn't require Units 1/2 (like P.E) so you still have five subjects in Year 12.

Whether you want to do four or five subjects in Year 12 is completely dependent on you. Having said that, juggling five subjects, combined with the UMAT, is a challenge.

Yeah, I'll most likely take 5 subjects, English, Chemistry, Methods, Specialist and Further.
Possibly drop specialist or further and focus on other subjects.

Is med actually reasonably possible with only 5 subjects? In other words, is the disadvantage quite large doing only 5? Only curious. Most med students I see do 6 subjects. I wonder if that 10% makes a substantial difference.

It will put you at a bit of disadvantage. That 10% may bump you up by like +0.40 in your ATAR (when I remove Bio out of my subjects, ATARCalc spits out 98.90 instead 99.30 - so yes, you would have a tougher time getting into undergrad med)

You may have less time to study for the UMAT, but in my opinion UMAT is just luck. I studied for UMAT a hell lot and I still did crap, as did a lot of my friends (although there were still some freaky kids who managed to get really high). '

Ahh okay, sorry for the constant questions haha but what about if I want to achieve a score like a 95? Would it be more beneficial to study less subjects because the score isn't as high? Meaning that even if you do lose that possible (but improbably) 5 increment, you can still improve heavily in your other subjects.

As long as you can manage your time effectively, it really doesn't matter which way you go. It looks like it all balances out in the end anyway; whether you do or don't do four subjects should not make a drastic difference.

So I am in the middle of my unit 2 exams and after revs yesterday I am exhausted. I am content with how I went in the actual exam, yet I feel so ridiculously unmotivated for my others, as they feel less important haha. Please tell me I'm not alone!

YOU ARE NOT ALONE, TRUST ME.
Haha I had most of my exams after my psych exam. I did no study for them, even though I had 3 days off after psych to study for them. I legit just did some cramming for an hour the night before and then the bus ride on the morning of the exam. I managed to pass and get above the average for all of my exams. JUST RELAX! Haha it's just that all the effort you put into your 3/4 exhausts you. In the end, unit 1/2 doesn't really have any impact on 3/4, so it doesn't even matter! :P

You are not alone. Even my parents have said that I'm blasé compared to the Further exams. :P

I remember when I was in Year 11, my 3/4 exam was like two weeks after all my 1/2s.

That was pretty good.

:D

But relax guys, if you've studied consistently then you should still do better than most people on your 1/2s. Just take it on as practise for next year.

With context, it's probably the one where you don't need to get into class to start learning. As soon as you find out what context you're doing start thinking, even if only for 5 minutes a day, about the philosophical nuances and resonances of your context. It'll help you more than you can imagine.

The best time for this is when you're trying to sleep, from what I've experienced :P In the days leading up to the exam I couldn't sleep so I basically pondered the importance of conflict to the human condition and how it defines our roles on this planet.
