And that's why we do not discuss this. The Class of 2013 values each member equally, regardless of their academic talents. :)

Yeah, really sounding more like a cult now...

My assumptions are being confirmed :P

But seriously (and I'm mainly speaking to the ex-VCE-ers), there's no need for this sort of chat right now. It's early days lol.

Perhaps the essays should be deleted after a small time frame. :)

This wouldn't work. For starters people could just make a copy if they were really intent on plagiarising, and secondly this could result in essays being deleted before anyone has marked them.

Students in the North Eastern suburbs especially convenient as I live in Ivanhoe. Interested in giving tuition to students studying Computing.

I do not want any essays deleted unless there is a request from someone's teacher, nor would I want a system where essays are marked over personal messages - both so other users can benefit from the feedback.

I think users just need to exercise their own discretion over it. I think a stickied post outlining the potential risks and consequences will allow users to make their own choices and be responsible for their own actions. :)

Exactly. It can only be harmful.

agreed. its best not talking about study scores, sac results, rankings, expectations and just stick to the content of each subject and try your very best. its a foolproof mechanism that guarantees great results anyway, so no need to spam AN with 'person X is sooooo getting 50!'... 'oh, he/shes defs getting 99.5+' etc etc. im not saying that im completely exempt from this (im also a culprit), but we should just try to focus on questions related to coursework, as opposed to tonnes of posts regarding potential ss results.

Exactly, I'm not marking essays for that one particularly person, well primarily yes, but as well to help the community.
I learned a lot from essays of other people and I admit, of course I copied some nice sentence starters and similar stuff and used them in my essays, but why shouldn't you? The forum is there to help everybody and if someone posts a question in the math section or an essay in the work-submission thread the whole community should benifit rather than only one person.
It would help everybody by a great extent of you post all your essays up and read those of others, including the criticism by other AN-members. Of course for a SAC you shouldn't really post the essay up since it is kinda unfair towards the other people in your cohort, but generally I don't really count reading and copying bits and pieces as plagiarism.
Deleting your essay after getting it marked by an AN-member is bullshit.

I don't know - all I know is that one user posted his essay here and another user copied one of his paragraphs. I just don't want people to get into trouble when they only have good intentions. :)

Well, who should get in trouble?
It would only be the person, who copied? And thats his/her own fault
Or am I missing something?

Both did in the end, because the one who posted up his essay put his work in such a position where plagiarism could occur. It's terrible, I know. :( All he wanted was a little bit of help.

Just thought I'd wish the Class of 2013 a very happy holiday season. :)

Also, I have a bit of a proposal. Since I get the impression hardly any of us have taken a break from the books, I think we should all have a week where we do absolutely nothing related to school. Who's with me here?
