Huh? I thought the oral was compulsory as per the study design :s
Hmm from Page 28 of the study design, it is compulsory but it does say

For U3AOS3 (using language to persuade)
Quote
For English students:
• writing which analyses the use of language in three or more persuasive texts that debate a current issue in the Australian media
and
• a sustained and reasoned point of view on the selected issue in written or oral form.**

So that persuasive assessment could be a written piece, but then there's the fine print with the asterisks, which says:
Quote
**One task, but no more than one task, in Unit 3 must be in oral form.
where the other oral one could be for reading and responding:

For U3AOS1 (reading and responding)
Quote
For all students:
• a response to a selected text, either orally or in writing.**

Probably kind of irrelevant, but I thought it was interesting that R&R one could be done orally (not sure why you wouldn't want to do an essay for that one though).

I have heard that some schools for r&r do both an essay and an oral speech on a topic from their book. Don't know why they would but have heard of it

Yeah a school in my area doesn't do a persuasive oral. I just knew you had to do some speech.
✌️just do what makes you happy ✌️

It's been quiet on here for a while now...a bit strange?  ???

Anyway, do you guys have any idea what you want to do when you finish year 12? I was looking at something in the health sciences... :)

Likewise. At this stage, I'm thinking Dentistry but I'd like to specialise in either paediatrics or special needs. :)

Give me a couple of days and I'll change my mind though. XD

Yeah that'd be a pretty interesting field to work in  :D Plus, you can go really far. We had a nutritionist come to school once - she'd progressed from being your everyday nutritionist, to being on TV!
Hmmm - nutrition sounds cool  :D

Pharmacy also has some appeal, but I don't really know what the pre-reqs are & what ATAR is required?

Haha - you've told me about your antics (one day fireman and the next day doctor  :P ). You've stuck with dentistry for a bit now though...last time I remember you saying you'd like to be one was a few months ago!

I wanted to be a paediatrician initially, but I'm not 100% sure anymore. There are just sooo many fields in medicine.

Hmm... Physiotherapy has never really appealed to me. Ever since I did some volunteering in Year 9, I knew I wanted to pursue a career in care. Only now am I starting to get a bit more specific in that though. Not to mention my parents pressuring me out of that area (yes, you read that correctly :P).

I've been hearing that there are too many people in Pharmacy :( It's hard to get a job in that field apparently, just saturated with too many graduates.. (Wow saturated, too much chem)

Oh really? I had no idea. I guess I assumed that because there's a doctor shortage, there'd also be a pharmacist shortage (because the two seem to be interlinked professions).

So you got your chem textbook then? I really ought to do some more work in chemistry haha...  :)

Yeah I've heard the Pharmaceutical career is in a bit of a dire strait at the moment. While you shouldn't be deterred if that's what you really want to do, you should inform yourself on what you'll be getting yourself into.

I'm guessing your parents are doing that because it's part of allied health? If I'm doing something in the health sciences, my parents are telling me to stick with a mainstream professions (where the pay is better etc etc..)
