Not trying to cause problems here. Just curious about the demographics on this forum.

Also, no arguments please. Save that discussion for the threads in the 'Rants/Debates' section. :)

Someone just edited the poll and added 'agnostic'. Please use the 'Atheism' or 'Other' category please. :)

Agnostic is not the same as Atheist and it's also not a fringe category like Wiccan or Paganism.

mm but agnosticism isn't really a religious perspective, more just a general philosophy. Agnosticism and atheism are both compatible with one another and most people who describe themselves agnostic would fall within the definition of atheism (I think the most widely accepted definition, or at least the one I find best is atheism is the lack of belief in a God or Gods). This is the broadest definition which includes everything from hardline atheists ("I know god doesn't exist") to less extreme positions ("I don't know and don't think we can ever know"). So long as you don't positively believe in the existence of a God (which is different from believing in the non-existence of a God) you are effectively an atheist - it's just that most people don't like to describe themselves as atheists because a lot of people perceive atheism in a negative light.

I would classify myself as an atheist, but I don't really have strong religious views. I just do not currently hold any positive belief in any particular one God and what arguments/evidence I have seen in favour of a particular God hasn't really convinced me enough to believe in one.

It might be best to change the poll options by removing 'atheism' (which avoids the whole "atheism is not a religion" debate) and replacing it with 'no religious beliefs' or 'non-religious'.
