Could some please post a list with all the undergraduate medicine universities in Australia, and how long each course is for.
Thanks

UNSW includes a year of research in their 6 year medical program, Samad :)

Anyways, also do note that this is university training only, you then have internship, residency and specialist college training, which will usually end up being around 12 years all up (including university)

@ paulsterio, since med is becoming very popular, i have heard that if you do your med course interstate you will most likely not be able to come back to your original state and do your internship. Through this entire 12 year process, when do you think it will be possible to come back to your original state?

Also, which state do you think in the future will be the hardest to gain internships in? (as i have heard people call it the graduate med tsunami)

If you're CV references are widespread and grades are high enough (i.e a ranking they call first class honours (top 20% ??)), then I have heard people being able to obtain internships in another state straight out of uni. I am not sure about which state is hardest to get an internship in: there used to be a time when all med students were guaranteed an internship but now there's a shortage of internship places. :S The number of internship places also fluctuate so i think its really hard to find data on this.

It's not exactly hard to find data, it's just that the data is useless because it's pertaining to the last few years rather than six years in the future, which is when you'll be graduating.

Hmmm, Russ is actually right, but that makes me wonder, since all medical school graduates need to be interns before they can do anything useful, what would happen to those who fail to receive an internship, if such a thing can happen.

jmosh002, well if you wanted to find out which state is the hardest to get an internship in, find out the number of places and the total number of medical students in that state and calculate the ratio for each state. although, like Russ has said, it changes.

They have a very expensive piece of paper. They can always reapply for the match next year though.
