Being accused of not writing your oral presentation speech by yourself after delivering a "perfect" oral. Ultimate compliment or insult?

I spent about 8 hours doing research and writing up an absoltely epic oral. Two teachers listened to it and seven minutes later, they were pretty much speechless. I didn't plagiarise any work or attain assistance from anybody to write it up. I've just got really mixed feelings about this. Part of me is upset because two teachers at my school clearly don't believe in my abilities but part of me is happy because I completely blew them away on my own accord.

I would personally be insulted; that is if they were being serious.

You will just have to impress them again with your other SACs. Prove your ability to them, it could work as great motivation for you.

Seems like they were very impressed with your oral otherwise they wouldn't have said that, so I would take it as a compliment :D

It's all good guys :) They just asked for my transcript and stuff. I guess they did a search with some of the sentences to see if I copied and pasted off google or something. I got 20/20 anyway.

Its a compliment but also slightly insulting as they didn't believe you were able to give such a fantastic speech.
I have the opposite problem, what ever I input into class discussions is immediately put down by my teacher, even if it is right. As an experiment I spent a few lessons writing my input down and getting my friends to read it as their own and he praised them for their insightful view on the issue.

My politics teacher said the same thing about my holiday homework but he apologised after I wrote some practice essays for him. I don't think it's always to do with the quality of the piece, something it's also the formatting and style of writing/expression which might make them think it came from somewhere else.

Yeah my English teacher doesn't doubt my abilities anymore - especially since I'm the only person in my class that is still on full marks for SACs and am Rank 1 in the cohort. I think she's starting to dislike me though, because I send her atleast 3 essays a week (usually 5) and I keep sending more and more to her even if she hasn't marked the previous ones lol.

Yeah 1 a day usually. I do 1 hour of English a night on weekdays so I give myself an hour to write a piece under exam conditions.
