any tips in getting a 50 in further!!!!!!

so i dropped math methods to pick up further, which is something i deeply regret since it has closed alot of doors for me and i cant change back cos the teacher wont let me. :-\
so i said to myself...'crap'
so now i NEED to get a 50 in further so i can get an ATAR of at least 93+ (im aiming for 94.34)  ;D

p.s i dropped methods because i used to do mostly crap on the tests (except for matrices and some others like calculus, they were fun)
but when it came to the exams i got B-B+  :-\

THANKS!

Hold the no.1 sac ranking and don't drop any marks in the exams.

^ What jmosh002 said, get that no.1 SAC ranking (if it is a very strong cohort, you might be able to get away with not being 1, but really have to be up there) and minimise marks lost on Exams. Unless the Exams are really hard you don't really want to be losing any at all.

I'd also like to put forward the idea of putting focus on your English subject because no matter what happens that has to be in your primary 4 and for many people this can be there downfall if they don't put in the hard yards.

If you plead your case that you need Methods for future courses I think you should be able to move back. Although, you would have to keep in mind you're probably a month behind many of the middle-top range students already.

Oh you poor poor child,

You have no idea what it takes to actually get 50 on that GODFORSAKEN SUBJECT.

Drop 1 mark (in multiple choice) in the exam and poof, you're hopes and dreams are blown away...

That's just me self-projecting though, so don't mind me.

But seriously, don't screw up anything, you have to be PERFECT, you're competing against the douchemonkeys that also do spesh and decide to take Further for the hell of it.

Get used to learning that CAS or TI because you are going to be needing it, and also, read question very CAREFULLY. That 15 mins reading time is precious and even afterwards I spend half the exam squinting at the questions trying to uncover some hidden meaning behind those cursed words.

Edited : Just to emphasise on the fact that I was indeed joking, just incase anyone didn't quite catch it.
Edited2 : Actually just to be sure, I'll just highlight the rest of the exaggeration (which is not completely without point).

dont listen to this person. If you drop one mark on the exam, your hopes are NOT blown away. i dropped a mark and got a 50. and competing against "douchemonkeys" should have no affect on you or your goal of getting a 50. Doing specialist wont put you in any advantage. its a different course and ANYONE can get a 50 if they put the effort in and work on rhe details. thats what gets you a 50. Do many different questions, the more questions you have under your belt, the greater chance that youll get questions in the exam that youve done before which increases the chance of not making mistakes. full stop.

That being said, you have to recognise that it is very hard to get a 50 in further. The most important thing is past exams - doing all of them so you can get as much practice as you can. Take your time, read each question, and be very, very careful in each sac and in the end-of-year exams.
Its a deceptive subject - its regarded as easier than most, but it is just as hard as any other subject to get those very high marks.
Most of all, maintain a positive attitude - that goes a long way in such a subject.
Good luck with it.  :)

Check out Max Payne's Guide, he got a 50 in further.
Further Maths Tips & Tricks

But I reckon you shouldn't have dropped Methods, though, since it opens up so many opportunities and is needed in Engineering, Commerce, Medicine, etc, B-B+ in exams in Year 11 is actually good, I got Like E's and D's and only got an A for one SAC which was logarithms, so that wasn't a good reason to drop it IMO. But there's always other options out there to get into your desired course but it's going to take longer if methods is a pre-requisite, keep persisting I'm sure you are more than capable of achieving a 50 in further, but even if you don't you shouldn't stress out, just try your best and do plenty of practice exams since they are the key to achieving high in the exams.
