Mine was on 6th Jan. But mine was later than most because I was part of the ATAR+UMAT stream of interviews :)

Not really, on the phone (and I know of someone who tried), they said something along the lines of (less bluntly of course): "Well if you think your holiday is more important than your admission into medicine, maybe you should reconsider your career pathway"

whoa yeah thats very blunt :/ and im going a bit off topic but are interview offers determined by what preference MBBS is placed. eg you would get an interview in early jan if you had it as 1st pref but you wouldn't if you had MBBS as 2nd and biomed @ melb uni as 1st?

No idea, but I don't know of anyone who had MBBS below Biomed (prior to receiving ATARs). I think I'll leave this one to someone else :)

oh alrighty! :P are all interviews conducted before changing of preferences? I'm afraid I won't get into either MBBS or biomed altogether :/

The first round interviews are before the ATAR is released I think (so, before Change of Prefs period), whilst the ATAR+UMAT interviews are a bit later after that.

Don't get too stressed if you don't get into either! There are many interstate options as well as other Victorian pathways.

For example, my UMAT wasn't brilliant, so I tried out for James Cook (no UMAT needed), and got a place there; also, my Victorian back-up wasn't UoM Biomed (although I would have got in there), but rather was Eng(chemical)/Biomed @ Monash (which could lead into an MD pathway if I did well on the GAMSAT, or a continuation into Engineering) :)

Defs not keen on moving interstate! What I meant to say was after the release of ATAR I change my 1st preference to biomed and 2nd preference to MBBS (if I didn't get 1st round interview). You would still get the monash interview right? Just hypotheticals but if you don't know I guess i can always ask my careers advisor at school :)
And I always though the only engineering you could do with UoM biomed was biomedical engineering :o

Why would you change BioMed to 1st preference, just leave it in 2nd, if you don't get Monash, you'll get BioMed.
Change of preference is for people who don't know what they want to do. Just leave it as is and you'd be fine.

Hypothetically, yes, you could possibly get an interview, but why would you want to do that?

pi said Eng/BioMed at Monash (the better uni) as opposed to Melbourne (the crappier one) ;)
In terms of not getting into Med or BioMed, why not Science at UoM, your chances of getting in from BSc is the same as from BBioMed, don't get carried away with marketing.

In regards to Monash being blunt, well, I can't help but admit, they do have a point. If you put your holiday ahead of your interview, well...it shows which you're committed to :P
(Btw, @pi, Luken recieved that blunt statement :P)

That's the person! I knew it happened to someone, couldn't remember who (hence my vague comment)! Haha, thanks :D

when does uni usually start for freshmen? But even if I do go after interview (which could be any time) I might not even get to spend it with friends! why does monash have to be so difficult :(
