Yeah you really dont microscopes...especially for the level of VCE bio. All you'll be able to see is whole cells and VCE bio doesn't even deal with that all that much. That and you lack the necessary chemicals to histiologically stain the cells to properly see things...so theres that.
Maybe in uni, i know i could use a microscope. I have like 4 or 5 slices of different cells (including a slice of a pancreas) we've stained at uni and took them home. Now, that is useful, for VCE bio, not at all to be honest. If you are interested, maybe but you'll get bored quickly.

http://cloud.med.nyu.edu/virtualmicroscope/) is probably more educational, you'll need a good histology book to be able to understand what you're looking at. Once again, way beyond VCE, in no way shape or form do you actually need a microscope.
