Best way to improve expression and vocabulary?

My teacher says that my ideas are unique but that I lack sophistication in how I express them. Any ideas how to improve vocab/expression and please no one say write lots of essays. I wrote around 40 plus for literature and received a 35. Also, how do I improve handwriting because my teacher says I need to improve it or some examiners might get frustrated. Would writing less words help like 1400 in an hour to 800-1000? I also have resources like a developed vocab book, Shinny's Cram course guide and Insight for English. Is learning sentence starter's a good idea?

It depends on what text you are studying, but have you read any professional literary criticism? If the text you are studying is one that gets a lot of attention from the literary academia, then reading criticism is by far the best way to ameliorate your writing style.

Not really sure with respect to improving your handwriting, but rather than slowing down you could try learning to do less joining between letters? I think you need to determine what makes your handwriting difficult to read and then fix whatever it is. That would probably be better than writing less in order to write in handwriting which still might be difficult to read because you haven't actually fixed the problem in question.

Expression: talk out loud (well under Ur breath) when writing could be a good idea. Don't kno how plausible it is in exams or sacs :P U could also write some really good sentences especially introduction sentences and some sentence openings. Memorizing them and using them on a recurrent basis could be a good idea. Yeah definitely spend time on working on how u write sentences rather than doing essays. That is very likely to help :)
