Need to make $600 between now and October for an operation.

Hey guys, unfortunately my mum is going to need an operation in October and I wanted to do my bit and put in $600 since our family is not very well off, she could use any type of help. The problem is, I don't have a job and I've never had one.

Even if I was to get a job, I fear it'll be detrimental to my year 12. So, I was thinking of selling stuff around the house, but couldn't find anything.

What do you guys recommend I do to make some money ?

To get a job wouldn't be that bad. That's if the employer allowed you to only work one shift a week (That way your not loosing much time). If you worked 4 hours a week @ say $15/hr, that's $60 per week. There's roughly 26 weeks to October, so 26x60=$1,560. You'd be able to contribute as well as have money for yourself. To find an employer that would actually do this might be a bit difficult.. Best bet would be with a big chain e.g. Coles, Target maybe even McDonalds?

As for other ways to make money? I can't really think of any that wouldn't take up any of your time..

Getting a job wouldn't be so bad if you keep your hours low. Less than 10 hours a week would be okay.

Yes. Apply for everything that you might have even the slightest chance of getting. The worst that can happen is rejection anyway.

Yeah just apply everywhere man.

Are you currently receiving youth allowance? You can look into that as well.

Working isn't so bad during year 12. You need some time away from the work to clear your mind.

Haha had to give in, and put my MW3 on Ebay. Also, a "Deal or No Deal" electronic game.

Consider doing tutoring to younger students. Maybe 2 hours per week, @ $15 p/h?
Thats what I do, and it is not very difficult, and allows you to solidify the basics in subjects such as Maths/Science.
Send out leaflets in mailboxes, or put in ad in the local newspaper.

Don't bother, the amount you earn from doing them from the time it takes is not worth it. Sure it's easy to do but they make it difficult. The ones that you can actually really make money off you have to actually sign up costing a certain fee such as mobile phone ringtones etc.

You can try I suppose, but from personal experience that's what I found.

Seriously your best choice is to get a job, you'll be able to handle it quite easily. When exam period is coming up just say you can't work or quit. Also as others have said look into centrelink because even though it can be a little bit of a hassle, if your family falls into the certain financial catergory you will be able to recieve it, that way both you and your family are being helped out. :)

I can't remember which one I used but I remember spending hours on it filling out surveys and having to quit some because they required money or a 'real' address so they could send you something. I only ended up earning about $5 and your money wasn't recognised by the site until you earnt more than $30.
