I am doing legal studies and want to see what everyone thinks. Personally I think it is achievable but only with a lot of hard work and determination

Same as everything.

Although I do think it is one of the tougher 50s for sure (from what I have read on the forums that is).

It is not easy to score a 50 in any subject, although with hard work and determination you have a greater chance.

On the topic, is Legal Studies 3/4 difficult to pick up on for students who have missed Unit 1? I'll be able to swap into the Unit 2 class but I've been told there's some relevant stuff in the Unit 1 that I've missed out on.
If it's largely the parliament, I think I've covered that well enough in Politics but I know nothing about courts.

Legal Studies is supposedly one of the less "variable" subjects for those seeking a perfect study score, in that it relies less on subjective interpretation (ala Literature or Philosophy) and more on being able to answer semi-factual questions.  With that said, getting a 50 in any subject is always going to be intrinsically difficult, in that your score is based on your performance against others, ergo there are only a finite number of 50s.

People do Legal 3/4 without 1/2 all the time - it shouldn't be a problem.

I reiterate what EZ said. I have current Mac.Rob students who didn't do Units 1 or 2, and their results have been reasonably good. The concepts in Units 1 and 2 are repeated again in Units 3 and 4, so you won't be at a disadvantage.

nope, never did unit 1/2, got 50 :)

you really won't miss out on much if you go into unit 2. maybe some definitions here and there and the court hierarchy, but easily made up for (just get a quality 3/4 study guide and flick through/read in your free time)

as long as you work really, really, really hard on unit 3/4, you won't be disdvantaged. you'll probably only be slightly behind for the first 1-2 weeks, but come revision/exam time, you'll be just as prepared as the people who have done unit 1/2.

personally I prefer not doing units 1/2, but that's another story..

good luck!
