Tbh, if you really don't like the subject then drop it. You'll find year 12 chem dreadful if you aren't enjoying it now, and it wont do any good towards your EOY results.
About the subject block dillema, nisha's advice is pretty much spot on.
If worst comes to worst, you could just drop it and then pick up another subject next year to take its place. There's quite a few subjects available that don't require their 1/2 equivalent.

I'd recommend that you talk to your later years advisor about this though. Hopefully they can sort something out.
