IN A BIT OF A MESS- ANY ADVICE?!

Hey,
Ok so this is my dilemma.
I chose chem at the beginning of the year looking forward to it and being so keen to get into it.
Turns out, I HATE IT SO MUCH.
I'm supposed to be studying for a chem 1/2 test tomorrow, but I just can't study.
All my test marks have pretty much been below average, and I seriously have no motivation to improve.
We get weekly hw to finish the chapter's questions, etc. and I hate it every time.

I just really dislike it, and I want to give up.
I kept telling myself that I'd keep trying, but I seriously think I'd rather watch paint dry than do chemistry.
I don't know what's wrong, but I know that I'm wasting hours trying to do chem that could be well spent on something that actually interests me.

I would like to do BA (hopefully) in uni anyways, so should I just drop it and pick up another subject, like further maths? Being curry and all (probs the only reason why I'm actually doing it), should I just continue it- do you have any other advice to keep me sustained?

BECAUSE I DON'T THINK I'D COPE TRYING TO GET THROUGH IT NEXT YEAR... I know that studying it at home next year will greatly affect my other subjects in the sense that all motivation to study will be gone, as does happen every single time I do chemistry. It's just precious time going to waste...

Thanks in advance... :)

This is happening to me but in Year 12.. some people like Chem, others don't. I just don't understand a thing in the damn subject. I would recommend you to drop it, otherwise it will most likely be in your bottom 2, but that's entirely up to you. Year 11 Chem provides the foundation for Year 12 Chem so if you have a bad foundation it's going to be much harder to do well.

if you dont enjoy it, and think that it would be better to pick up another subject then drop it. Further is easy as hell compared to chemistry so it would give you confidence and that extra boost to your study motivation IMO

I agree. That's pretty legendary. For me, I've never been a Science-type person. I'm more business-oriented and enjoy humanities, by choosing Science objects I've pretty much made the biggest mistake of my life.. so far. But yer, I know how you feel. Since you are doing Year 11 Chem, I'd recommend just taking it easy and watching YouTube videos to better understand the concepts (khanacademy) and reading articles about the particular concept on the internet. Goodluck! We both need it.

Do you have any reasons to continue studying Chemistry? If you don't like it, I seriously don't see any point in taking it at all.

I dropped English when I was in VCE. Heck, I even dropped uni subjects when I felt they weren't interesting enough.

if you dont like the subject then drop it. (unless ya need it)
was in the same situation as you, but for uni, and discontinuing chem was probably the second-best decision i ever made (the first was abstinence (Y), lol jokes im ugly, lol jokes im fabulous abstinence ftw)

subjects you like are much easier to score higher on than daunting ones.
unit 3 chem = i didnt mind it, kinda found it difficult B+ for mid years
unit 4 chem = devastated over midyears, hated chem, didnt study for it, last 18 hours i finished unit 4 course, got a C+ for end of years, HATED CHEM!!! RUINED MAH LIFE.

so yeah pick up further instead

I think it's just that people are interested in different fields, or they may think they are good at those particular subjects so they pick them for 3/4. People who don't do science subjects are just as smart really.

I did ELang and English, thinking that I might be better off doing two. Didn't turn out to be that way. Ha!

How does your school only have 3 subjects per block? Usually there is at least 5 other subjects to choose from.

Hmmm. Chem is my favourite subject...so...idk..
but definately,  if you don't have any motivation to do chem, drop it. Unit 3 is quite difficult with alot of the course in it, and if you don't study, its really not going to be the best for you.
I know there's a social stigma for curry's and science subjects, but seriously, if I hated science and maths subjects, I wouldn't do them at all. Stuff everyone else.

If further is not in the block, is it possible le to move around your subjects into different blocks without disturbing your preferences? If not, just take four subjects. Honestly, further maths is not really needed for pretty much any uni course. It will give you time for your other subjects and you will have motivation to study :)
Don't even think about taking music. trust me, IMO its not worth it.
