can you help me with this essay history question? Discuss the extent to the new regime remained ideologically pure?

I think one of the approaches you can take with this question is to, for the purposes of the essay, define 'ideologically pure' as remaining true to the ideals set out in the major documents at the outset of the revolution (e.g. for the French revolution this included the Declaration of the Rights of Man and Citizen etc.) and then explore to what extent each period of the revolution remained true to these ideals, dividing them into body paragraphs for each recognised time period.
But I never studied the American revolution so I can't really help you anymore than that. FYI though, I found the checkpoints books to be quite helpful with suggesting approaches to past essays.
