split brain??7

Hey everyone, I just had as question about split brains...

When one eye is covered, for example, if only the right eye is  covered, so the person can only see with their left eye, will the person be able to recognise and name the object? ( this isn't about visual fields being blocked, but the whole eye) I thought they could as the left half of the eye sends info to right hemisphere, and right half of each eye sends info to the left hemisphere, so the person should still be able to recognise it and name it, right?

It's just that I did the engage education practice exam and the solutions said that if the right eye was covered ( so the left eye can see) the object could be recognised but not named. but I dont think that's right, what do you guys think?

engage practice exam is wrong - you are right - 100% sure :).

Your reasoning is spot on too - I would have said the same thing.

I just did the engage exam as well and I have the exact same question. The solutions explained that it's because the right hemisphere is responsible for recognising objects, so even though the left hemisphere receives the information, it can't verbalise it because it doesn't recognise what the object is. But I don't know if that's right; it's not what we learnt in class.

So far every practice exam (outside of VCAA obviously) have had at least one mistake - usually a lot more. It makes things quite annoying.  ::)

Yes its a mistake. Most exams have this question to trick you. Most people assume the left eye is the left visual field and the right eye is the right visual field, when in fact both eyes have both a right and left visual field.
