Cut-off
« on: June 12, 2012, 08:02:40 pm »
What do you guys reckon the cut off will be?

I really have little idea

could be anywhere between 76 - 84 IMO

I think some of the less well prepared students may have found some questions very hard (for example the log tension, the ball pulling on earth)

so maybe the average will be quite low

but for the more prepared students i think it was really quite an easy exam which 100% was quite possible on (not for me though :'( (silly mistake! fml -2 at least))

so maybe it will be a bit higher than last years at 80?

by the sounds of it people on atarnotes forum did very well but i spoke to many people from about 10 different schools and they there whole class struggled so my guess is cut off for A+ low to mid 70's

I think a lot will depend on the leniency of the exam marker because there were plenty of explanation questions... depends on how thorough they want the explanations to be!

What was the cut-off mark for the 2009 one?? coz that was the easiest so this one's cut-off would be lower.

high 70s low 80s i reckon. the previous year's exams were more of the 'grab out ur cheat sheet, write the formula out and sub in values' but this years one was a lot less of that and more thinking involved.

this is the reason why i think the cut off will be very low because many dont think out of the box if you know what i mean.

yeah but the A+ students shouldn't have that much trouble with applying their knowledge, therefore it won't lower the A+ cutoff that much (whilst it will lower other cut offs) IMO
