Similar to my chem post,

Whats the go with unit 4 physics?
What do you do in it and whats the hardest/easiest bits - for the general consensus?!

is that one whole topic?

What else is there?
electric power?
photoelectric effect?
anything awesome?! lol

Some year 12's from my school last year said that unit 4 was much easier, what are your thoughts on that?

I thought unit four was a lot more theory, especially the light part.. I found unit 3 easier as its more number plugging :P

Unit 4 is awesome, the core content is a lot more interesting than the core content in Unit 3. The entire Interactions of Light and Matter area of study was good stuff, especially with de Broglie's idea and that whole symmetry thing - "if light can have both a particle and wave nature, can matter have both a particle and wave nature?" And then that leading on to modelling the atom with electrons forming standing waves around the nucleus, rather than orbiting like planets. (which then went off to be further developed into ideas like quantum mechanics and other stuff not covered in VCE)

If you're curious, definitely Google the stuff you learn in class and you'll run into quite a lot of interesting stuff pretty quickly (there's a lot of good stuff on Wikipedia about it too).

As laseredd said, Light and Matter section is pretty interesting. Magnetism and Sound were pretty boring

Haha. I liked the standing waves and resonance / other wave stuff in Sound. I thought the electromagnetism stuff was pretty cool too... (come on, who doesn't like playing with magnets :P). The induced EMF stuff is cool, it's pretty fascinating you can take a loop of wire, stick it in a bit of magnetic field and get a current flowing through it.

relativity is interesting; if VCE wasn't VCE then i would definitely have done the relativity detailed study for u3 lol
i remember reading some of hawking's books and other physics authors in year 8 and 9 and the small amount i could comprehend was absolutely fascinating

Absolutely, relativity is beautiful. More kids should grow up knowing what relativity is :3

In year 9 my teacher gave me a book called 'Mr Tompkins in Paperback'. It bored me, but at times some of the stuff was very interesting.

Unit 4 is a lot more conceptual understanding that Unit 3, in my opinion.

Motion is mostly mathematical and Electronics and Photonics is usually always easy, so that makes Unit 3 just bad.

Unit 4 is much more fun, Light and Matter is harder to get your head around, but easy once you understand it. Magnetism is pretty straight forward, very predictable kinds of questions really :)
