minimum = 65/75
max = 73/75
i did some silly mistakes, but hey according to douchy the last question (well one of the last) about which compund is like the one that is lablelled 'Y' there was no real answer because the answer the examiners wanted was O2 (oxygen) but oxygen isnt a compound therefore.......THERE IS NO RIGHT ANSWER AND EVERYONE WILL GET A MARK!!!!

That might be it but:

Definition of a Compound

It just says it has to have two or more atoms. Doesn't specify they have to be different.

That's not to say they won't give everybody the mark. Fingers crossed =D

...................omg............you're right......better still give us the mark -.-
either that or destroy the whole question!!!!

From all the possible marks I could lose, and the two multiple choice that I don't remember my answer to (counted as lost), I predict my minimum is around 65/75.

More sources than not say a compound is made up or 2 or more different elements.
And the definition of compound in a dictionary is the same as above.

I agree with you 100%, I looked for the exception. It's just VCAA can be ridiculously pedantic (I remember one exam they claimed that ethene and ethylene weren't the same thing)

Agreed.
Its all about how you phrase it. Especially in this exam where you need to EXPLAIN.

62-70 depending on whether the examiners are pedantic with their marking (which they probably will be :S) and the correct answer to question 5 (the 4 mark protein question). Anyone know when the solutions for this exam will be up?

according to my opinion and level of difficulty i would say around ~60/75 =80%
but then...............it happened.........most of the people around me thought it was the hardest exam ever and did even finish it, some even left 2 pages blank in the SA section. So now taking into account their opinions, it could be around 56/75 = 75%

2 examiners mark it.
they cannot give you half marks
but overall you can get a half mark (1+2)/2)

and yeah, you'll probs lose a lot of those, i lost 8 on unit 3 lol (half marks, one full mark)

I doubt the A+ cut off would fall to 56 (I don't think even 2006 bio exam was that low) but who knows, it could be. I had friends who said it was the easiest exam in their opinion and that the A+ cut off would be 64. On the other hand, some said it was harder than previous years and trickier.

yeah i think the general consensus was that it was pretty easy , but not ridiculously easy
i reckon
61 - 62 cut off
(although i didn't first hand sit the exam so take with a grain of salt)

Have you seen the exam? If so, what did you think of it overall? (Btw, I found your tips for bio very useful so a big thankyou!! :) )
