Not rank 1, still possible to dux the subject?

If i'm not ranked 1 at a subject, is it still possible to get the highest study score for that subject at my school if i perform better on the exam then those ranked higher then me?

I was ranked 1 for Methods and Spesh last year, I did not dux them :P

You won't need a first rank to get a 50, especially if your cohort is strong

But they study at selective schools like Mel High, Mac.Rob,... so "not very high-ranking" is still the top one compared to others

At first I thought we had to rank 1 and almost get full mark in exams to get 50, so after the recent SAC, I feel like my dream is broken down.

Definitely not the case! For most subjects (not spesh last year though), if you ace the exams with decent SAC rank (top few - maybe top 15 in a strong cohort) you can get 50 :)
