What do you mean "not Spesh last year"?

Well a guy in my class got full marks for both exams (he got his statement of marks) and had a very good SAC rank and got 49 raw (he ended up with 99.95 so it was a non-issue for the 50).

You got 50 in Accounting but didnt rank 1? OMG!

You won't need a first rank to get a 50, especially if your cohort is strong

But they study at selective schools like Mel High, Mac.Rob,... so "not very high-ranking" is still the top one compared to others
Well I'm from a public school so there is still hope for you :D

Although I did get 4 100% SACS and still didnt rank 1..

Not to mention that with scaling a 49 becomes 54.6 and a 50 becomes 55.

One of my friends supposedly had some shocking Bio SAC results last year (a few 50% scores although I think this was very common) and she still duxed our cohort with a 48 despite dropping 11 marks over the two exams.

Keep in mind, also, that rankings are different for Unit 3 and Unit 4. You might not do as well as others in SACs for the first semester but you sure as hell can work your way to the top for this coming term. Think of it as a clean slate.

They are combined for subjects with 2 exams and separate for subjects with 1 exam.

Spesh last year was really stupid because the exams were extremely easy and many people would have gotten 100% for both exams, basically more people would have gotten 100% for both exams than they had 50s to give out, thus, SACs became a very important factor.

At MHS, their SACs last year did not scale up, whereas at my school, they did, so the top few at my school would have gotten 100/100 for SACs, meaning that at my school you wouldn't have had to be rank 1 to get 50, provided you got 100% for both exams.

They're two separate grades, so you'd be rank 1 for GA1, and rank 3-4 for GA2.

What about Methods? Say you were ranked #100 for Unit 3 and #1 for Unit 4 haha. I can dream.

Because the thing is, unit 3 SACs are worth 20% and unit 4 SACs are worth 14%.

It doesn't matter what rank you are individually for each Unit, they take it across the whole thing, so they take your SAC mark, multiply it by how much it's worth and add it all together then rank you.
