So when I graduate and no guarantee of internship for international students, I have to apply by myself? Is it possible because now there is oversupply of pharmacist?

No, it just means that you won't get a guaranteed place. With local students, they are guaranteed an internship place, meaning they HAVE TO BE taken in somewhere, with you, you might be rejected from everywhere.

If you're talking about pharmacy, I'm not sure, because I know pretty much nothing about pharmacy.

Btw, are you Viet? :O

That might actually be possible - it's to do with the fact that if international students are included, there would be A LOT of medical students graduating every year. The truth is, the international students industry is quite an issue because they are a good source of money and they boost Australia's economy - also compounded by the strong Australian dollar, which makes studying in Australia a good prospect - but the truth is, there's not much for them to do post-education in Australia unless they get a citizenship.

Nothing's wrong - I'm Viet too :) heheh :P

Also important to note that intern places are harder to get if you are international. I'm not familiar with pharm, but in med, CSPs are at a higher priority.

@ Vegemite: Without internship, no matters pharm or med, I cant work anywhere?
How do they select students to do internship? Based on scores at uni and interviewing only?

@ Paul: I know, we have to pay so much money for studying here. Its even more expensive in Uni
I have some Viet Aussie friends too but they speak Eng only LOL

Pretty much, you need an internship to be qualified.

I think someone like shinny would be best at answering that (as he's progressed further into the degree than me or Paul), but I think you have to submit resumes and cover letters with your achievements, etc. and there are interviews. I'm very sketchy on how it works though.

The most important thing to note is the new trend towards EBCV and the fact that having done things such as research and work experience is in your favour with CV ranking etc.

Is Shinny studying pharm or med?
I'm worried that I cant get an internship and end up being jobless.
Btw, when you and Paul get into interviewing, is it hard? What kinda questions do they ask?

Good old MUMUS, clearly the most awesome medsoc :D

Have a look at this for pharmacy internships http://www.pharmacyboard.gov.au/Registration/Internships.aspx

Is Shinny studying pharm or med?

Med, fourth year at Monash MBBS

Btw, when you and Paul get into interviewing, is it hard? What kinda questions do they ask?

For a medical interview? Both UoM MD and the Monash MBBS use MMI interviews now: http://www.med.monash.edu.au/medical/central/requirements.html#multiple

The appendix section of this document has a few sample stations: http://uss.tufts.edu/hpa/PDF/MMI.pdf

its really helpful :) Btw, can I apply internship in other states as well? I think its better to apply as much as I can in case they all reject me in VIC :D

Yep, although note that even for a Vic CSP, it is already very very difficult to get an interstate internship.

@ Vegemite: I thought in NSW and Queensland or rural areas, it'll be easier to get an internship? Actually I dont mind moving as long as I get the job I want

@ Paul: why not?
Haha its okay to write in Eng. Both are fine for me :P
