hey guys
So I've always been interested in chemistry but never chose it as a subject
I flick through my mates' textbooks and it looks a little daunting, but I'm sure if i started with the basics i could understand it..
So how would you go about doing? besides grabbing a textbook and diving in???
Has anyone got any books they recommend?
Just wondering if anyone else has done the same thing :)

Night all!

I recommend taking a look at the chemistry section on khanacademy.org - i did this to give me some of the basics of chem before i started uni chem (i hadn't done chem in vce at all).

I don't know if I would. I did (similar to) vce chem in uni (called fundamentals of chemistry) and then moved onto mainstream chem to catch up with all the other kids who did vce chemistry, i'd probably advise this.
2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.

It's not as though saheh is saying that he'd like to do it at uni, just that he'd like to learn about chemistry as you'd learn about anything else. You don't have to study it formally to have an interest.

I'd say http://www.chemguide.co.uk/ would be a good start for some light reading. There's heaps of Youtube videos which would be useful and going through the textbooks used for VCE units 1-4 would be useful too, particularly if you did some of the questions, to learn some of the solid theory.
