Coming back to Victoria for internship is quite unlikely. The law just changed such that even international students are ranked above local students who completed their Medical degree interstate. Thing is, internship's just one year. You can just come back after that.

And do you have any idea how likely it will be to become a resident in a victorian hospital? If you've done an internship interstate.

That's kind of ridiculous. The only way for you to learn how to live on your own is to actually move out - it's not like you'll be any more prepared by sitting at home for another 5 years. I've got plenty of friends who've come from or gone to interstate who were hesitant initially but are now fine with it. It's not like you'll let yourself just starve to death or live in an utter cesspool.

Thats true, I dont live with my parents since I was 15 and I'm really fine with it.
If you are passionate with med and the job you like, you can sacrifice. You will leave home when you grow up anyways

Iam not sure about it but if you have done an internship, you can work then, I think ?!?

Don't think it makes you any less likely than anyone else as far as I'm aware. From then on, it's just like getting a normal job. Which means that connections are the only thing you'll be short of. Which is significant of course, but aside from that, there shouldn't be anything else restricting you.

Well, if I don't get an internship, I'm doing a DipEd and becoming a high school teacher, it's always good to have a backup plan, especially in an area I'm interested in.

Anyways, back on topic, I don't understand why the government would spend money training graduates when there are no more internship places - that would just be a serious waste of money, and if this issue continues, it's going to really pile up on them. Like just from their point of view, it makes little sense.
