Subject selection 2013-HELP!

Okay so I'm in year 10 and I don't know what subjects I should pick! I'd really like to teach history and food tech so here's what I'm thinking at the moment... (btw, I'm completing 1/2 food this year)

-3/4 food, core English, further maths, semester of t&t (compulsory at my school) with semester of hhd and history. OR...

-3/4 food, core English, further maths, semester of t&t (compulsory at my school) with semester of history and then literature... OR

-3/4 food, literature, further maths, semester of t&t (compulsory at my school) with semester of hhd and history. (then pick up core English in year 12).

Worth noting I'm usually a straight A student apart from maths! Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

When you say Furhter Math, are you meaning General Math A (Units 1&2) or are you talking about year 12 maths? I'm assuming Gen A if you're not a strong math student.
Have you thought about two year 12 subjects next year?

IMO, dont do literature in year 11 and then drop to English in year 12. As someone who has done that, it can be beneficial at times because it allows us to think outside the box with the detailed analysis' in context, but it can be a different story with the other areas of English. Stick with English the whole way through, you know what you are in for, no surprises in year 12. Also allows more time to experiment with different styles of writing.

Look it really depends on what interests you and your strengths.
From your information given my opinion is to consider 3/4 Food and 1/2 History. These will be in your top preferences as you enjoy those subjects.
T&t is also locked, which leaves you with 3 subjects.
You can do HHD as a another 3/4 if you want to. That leaves with general Maths.

Hope this helps.

Hey everyone.
Replies to all of you individually:
Brenden-at my school the general maths that leads to further is actually general b. this is what I am thinking of putting down maths wise for year 11.
Nisha-sorry for the confusion, I actually meant to say that I'd continue with literature and then pick up English in year 12 as I would have completed 3/4 food the following year. I have just got home from subject selection night at school and my school recommends to do English or English and literature, but not literature on its on. So I have some thinking to do!
Blues fan-I would definitely put down 3/4 food and 1/2 history without a doubt. As with t&t I actually meant to say that in year 12, you can drop t&t and do what it called school based re that is basically one workshop per week that has no contribution towards the ATAR.

After tonight here's what I'm thinking:
3/4 food, core English, general maths b, literature, t&t with history OR
3/4 food, core English, general maths b, history, t&t with hhd OR
3/4 food, core English, general maths b, history, t&t with media :).

I would probably say I'm leaning towards the first of my new options

I think it's best if consider tossing up between subjects (pros/cons etc.), rather than providing us with complete lists of subjects you might want to do, especially since you've added in media as an option there now.

Decide if you want to do Literature in Year 12 and then that's one decision made.

So after the Eng/Lit decision, it looks like you're tossing HHD and Media.  I like going by the general rule to do subjects you enjoy over a subject you might find dull and think you might be able to pull off an easy score. It's probably best for you to take a look at which subject you'd enjoy more (e.g. I'd go with Media any day, but that's not necessarily what you might do :P)

Also I noticed that your list has dropped down from 6 subjects to 5 subjects in your second post (you normally do 6 subjects in Year 11 and 5 subjects in Year 12), so will you be doing 4 subjects in Year 12 (giving you 5 3/4 subjects total), or will you be able to do 5 subjects in Year 12 (not including that RE subject? - giving you 6 3/4 Subjects total, which really is what you SHOULD have since you're doing a 3/4 subject in year 11 and all). If you're not doing that RE subject in Year 12, then you can pick up another 3/4 subject?

(and also remember that you can still switch and change subjects later, you don't have to consider the subject selection to be exactly what you might do in Year 12 - there's still a year and half of opportunity to change your mind before that).

With the dropping down to five subjects that's just in reference to next year only. I'd pick up another subject in year 12 because I would finish 3/4 food next year, therefore I'd be doing six subjects. Eg. Food tech, English, further, history, hhd and maybe pick up legal of something like that, if that makes any sense.

Text and traditions. I'm at a catholic school, so they make a unit of it compulsory in year 11
