Subject Selection Advice?

I am having alot of trouble deciding between these 2 pathways, so decided to make a poll to see what people think i should do if they were in my situation.

I have narrowed my decision down to 2 selections, with advantages and disadvantages listed below.

Option A:
Year 11- Methods 3/4, Further 3/4
Year 12 - English 3/4, Religion 3/4, Chem 3/4, Spec 3/4

Advantages:
-Maths is my strongest point, so by doing 3 maths, half my vce will be maths.
-Methods and further will be easier than methods and health, so will have more time to contribute to them and easier workload.

Disadvantages:
-Only 2 maths count in top 4
- Will put alot of pressure for me to do well in chem, as i know now religion won't be in top 4 for me.
-May get sick of maths by doing 3 of them in year 11, and won't do well in spec in year 12.

Option B:
Year 11- Methods 3/4, Health 3/4
Year 12 - English 3/4, Religion 3/4, Chem 3/4, Spec 3/4

Advantages:
-I may do well in Health, and therefore may be in my top 4, and will put less pressure on chem.
-Not doing 3 maths subjects, so won't get too sick of maths.
-My school does well at Health (although they also do just as well at further)

Disadvantages:
-Health will be harder than further in terms of workload, imo.
-I find Health a bit dull at times (in 1/2 class right now, although i think i will still be able to score well if i study hard).
-If i end up doing really well in chem, and i'm pretty sure i'll do well at spec and methods, then health will be a waste of time - studying my arse off and having it in my bottom 2, when i could've done further and ended up with a 40-50 with far less work.

Thanks,
I'd really appreciate if you could vote. :)

I have done neither subjects so I dont know the workload. IMO, though you still need to be increadibly meticulous and do quite a bit of work for further to achieve high marks, 40-50 aint easy.

If I were you, I would pick option B. Vary the subject up. Think about it: You will have close to 8-10 classes of maths per week for yr 11. Could you handle that?
Its all the same really, you may get bored of taking 3 maths subjects or you could get bored of health.

If you love a subject, take it. Spesh scaling is incredible, and combining a 40-50 in further, that may be in your top 4. Idk, its your choice.

Yeah, I'd also choose option B

Unless you have a burning desire to study both spesh and further, I'd really select one of them because at the end of the day, you can only have top 4 for 2 of the maths. Also, you get some variety if you chose health, rather than maths, which, if it constitutes half of your vce can begin to become a little monotonous. And also, having a little bit of flexibility with top 4 subjects can really come in handy, if you begin to struggle/dislike one.

I may be misinformed about this seeing as I do neither, but I would've thought that it would be around the same difficulty to achieve those scores in both health and further?

I did all 3 math subjects, did further in year 11 - worst subject... So boring and incredibly easy to lose marks. Since i did 7 subjects it didn't even count for me in the end.
If i were you, i'd choose option B.

Just a side note, you seem really confident that you can do relatively well in further and whatever other classes you stated, I'm not questioning your ability to do so but you need to know it isn't easy to score a 40+ raw score.  No offence but you shouldn't even be thinking ' when i could've done further and ended up with a 40-50 with far less work.' You haven't even completed a year 12 unit yet so i don't think you're in a position to make such a statement. A piece of advice if you do do further, don't mess around with it just because the content is pretty straightforward it doesn't mean you can put little effort in and still achieve high results. There is little margin for error in this subject and if you get complacent you will lose marks very easily - trust me on this one!

B, + spesh is better than further.
If you feel you can cope with spesh do spesh and methods but not further

No point doing 3 maths imo, it's not smart VCE, option B.

Have you considered doing Physics?  As VegemitePi said, there's not really a massive advantage to doing 3 VCE Maths as the lowest scoring one is counted as you 10%.  Have you considered doing Physics?  A lot of people doing Methods and Spesh tend to be attracted to Physics because it's Maths content additionally AFAIK it's less competitive than further.

Nah, don't do Physics, it's honestly not worth time of your life :) Your Plan B you've got sounds good :)

Yeah, agreed. Ignore that ROHITPI bloke, he sounds dodgy, but on the other hand, that VegemitePi bloke looks like he's done physics, might be worthwhile listening to his advice ;)

Yeah i've considered physics, although to be honest i am not at all interested in the content - regardless of vce strategy.

i'm doing both health and methods. health is seriously amazing. yes, the workload is a lot but its very rewarding mark-wise

option B seeing that a 30 in spesh > 40 in further after scaling (from what I remember) - and ill assume you like maths because you enjoy being challenged in problem solving? further wont offer you that therefore you will find it a lot more dull than anything

Unit 4 Physics is the worst thing that happened to me. Atleast unit 3 was bearable.

From what I remember of health, it was a crapload of work.... especially in year 11, when you're still in the stages of getting used to the massive workload. BUT it is a pretty good subject to do if you want to get a 40+ i think; the content is interesting to study and because sooooo many people do it, if you really give it your best shot, you have a good chance of getting into the top percentiles.
further.... can't comment coz i've never done it. sounds boring. :D
methods and health sound like a good combo ;D
Happy enough after one hell of a year.
