Got the same for 1 (as did pretty much everyone else...XD).

2 I screwed up after getting all the correct lengths because of careless working/headache, but most of the maths geniuses I talked to got 1/7 as well.

5 I basically guessed.  One maths genius got something along the lines of 200 as well though.

Did anyone use a method other than just multiplying the last digit by 4 for question 4?  That one intrigued me.

Also somebody tell me how 6 worked.  >_>

He said he solved the first 7 questions but had trouble writing them down in the time remaining

For question 6,

Find max f(n) for . How many values of n give this max?

Spoiler:

I did not get this solution, a friend told me the solution:

You have to think about the binary representation of a number.

Eventually we can see that, by following the formula above, the number of '1's in the binary representation equals the value of the function.

Since is the maximum value of n we can have, the max of f(n) = 10 (achieved by 10 '1's)

And this can occur like:

So we have 5 values of n.

I got a Certificate last year in Senior.  Did you go to the ceremony? :o

Second time lucky! Adrian's really good, probably close to making the IMO team last year - got a gold cert in AMO last year.
What are your predictions for the team this year? We've got a very strong group of contenders this year :)

In my opinion:

Aaron Chong
Sampson Wong
Stacey Law
Alfred Liang

and...

no idea for the rest.  Too much competition.  >.>

Yes I did just list all of the 2010-graduate IMOers from last year.  I met Stacey and Sampson at NMSS though.  ^_^

My ex maths-camp friends say that it's pretty much decided already (and has been for the last 2 years). They listed off 2 other names, and I can't remember them (I think they're both NSWers, but there might be one Victorian), but they also said DV from SGS has a really strong chance, but his social skills might apparently let him down. I'm not sure seeing as I don't know him (science camp > maths camp :))

Yeah true, he looks down and fiddles with his fingers a lot. I didn't go to that public lecture but I did have an informal morning tea with him and MUMC outstanding award winners in Intermediate and Senior 2009 which was the day after the lecture I think, we just asked him about his life and had a random discussion, including his blue-eyed islanders puzzle. He also gave a lecture at the 2009 IMO about prime numbers I think...
yeah he is pro at prime numbers, maybe he prove riemann hypothesis one day

Wouldn't be surprised.  It's a freaking talented year group though.  :p

A guy from my school will probs be in there next year woooo~  May or may not be related to James Lu.  >.>
