There's a para on it on here that makes it pretty clear http://www.med.monash.edu/medical/central/entry-schemes.html

Regarding category 1, can everyone apply for it? the careers counsellor at my school seems to be telling everyone to apply for it.

Yes, everyone can apply for it. It's literally just a tick 'yes' thing. The system will sort out if you're eligible for anything.

Nah SEAS won't help with scholarships. And if the scholarship is limited then the aggregate may come into account.

Just putting it out there, but you won't get a scholarship at Monash with a 99.90 for Medicine, it's 99.95 and 99.95 ONLY. And no, SEAS does not help with that, but what you might find is that if you are disadvantaged, you can apply for a bursary.

Not true. It was true in our year, but Monash have this year opened up new scholarships remember.

Exceptional Achievement - 99.95
Outstandinding Achievement - 99.90
Excellence - 98.00 - 99.85.

^Isn't that a bit short-sighted on Monash's part given that you almost certainly have to be studying spesh/a language to get 99.95?

Thush, I don't think the others are paying scholarships per se, they just allow an interview given a slightly lower UMAT. Otherwise, basically 75%+ of the medicine cohort will be elegible for the "Excellence" scholarship.

Well, what can you do, they only have a strict number to give out and they will go to those with the highest ATARs, the means it took for us to get that ATAR is not really relevant to them.

With the new scholarships - EVERYONE who gets 99.9 will get the Excellence scholarship, and the top students (amongst those who get 98+) will get the excellence scholarships (I'll assume they'll go to the 99.85 people). But, to be considered for a second round interview, you need not get the scholarship, you merely need to be eligible for one.

Does that mean that if you get 98+ atar you automatically get an interview regardless of UMAT performance?

No, it means you will be considered for an interview. They look at your UMAT as well for second round.

So basically, 99.90 and 70 UMAT won't cut it. 99.90 and 90 UMAT will?
