Q about allocation of Monash/Melbourne Med

What's the process for monash / melbourne med?

Let's say i put one above the other
(non - bonded, chancellors)
what's the process? If i qualify for an interview at monash will i get the interview regardless of whether it's first or second pref?
If i put chancellors first, and then get 99.95 (unlikely) will i be offered a excellence scholarship at monash?
If i get 99.9 and put chancellors first, will i still be offered an "outstanding achievement" scholarship for monash medicine?

Can having a scholarship based on academic achievement override preferences and be offered to you?

Let's say if i prefer (very hypothetically)

99.95 scholarship non bonded monash
99.9 chancellors melbourne
99.9 scholarship monash

What order should i place monash unbonded and chancellors
Thanks!

If Monash Med is in your preferences and you qualify for an interview, you will get one :)

If Monash is not your first pref, you will not get a scholarship to them straight away, although they will try and persuade you for sure if you get 99.95 (and will certainly give you an irregular offer (the new name of that)).

No, 99.95 only.

Is that list for VTAC? I'm pretty sure you don't put scholarship prefs in VTAC (unless it's changed) except for Chancellor's which has its own course code. As far as I know, ERC, Bonded and Un-bonded have different course codes, but scholarships (for med anyway) don't. Could be wrong though.

Do you prefer to go to Monash or Melbourne?

If Monash, then do:

- Monash MBBS Unbonded
- UoM Chancellors (Science/BioMed)
- Monash MBBS ERC/Monash MBBS Bonded (whichever you prefer)
- Monash MBBS ERC/Bonded (whichever you didn't put on option 3)

If Melbourne then move UoM Chancellors above Monash MBBS Unbonded

Fairly certain Comm doesn't have a pathway to MD.

Science does, as long as you take the prereq subs and pass the interview.

Any chancellors scholars program gives you guaranteed access to the MD, as long as you do the prereq subjects and pass the interview

Why would you want to do a Commerce undergrad if you want to get into MD, you're just making it hard for yourself to be honest.

does every undergrad have the options of the prereq subjects?
should i put every single chancellors program (monash med unbonded, bio med chancellors, sci chancellors, commerce chancellors, arts chancellers etc.?)

Why would you do that...?
The prereq subjects are easiest to do through biomed because they're core. Science is pretty easy but the subjects are apparently getting quotas next year due to demand. The others you'd have to do through breadth and if you didn't have enough space you'd need to use CAP

Just quickly, the biomedicine SEAS guarantee for students with financial disadvantage or rural location has risen to 95.00 this year.

Why would the chancellors scholars go down for commerce? I don't think they have to fill a quota of scholarship spots do they? and what would be the point of putting down all the scholars programs; if you get one, then you'd get all, and if you didn't get one, you wouldn't get any? That's my understanding at least..

Don't do that, I just suggest doing BioMed or Science and getting into MD that way, but meh, best to not think about this, actually work on getting an ATAR of 99.85, 99.90 or 99.95 first!

You can do commerce, but you'd need to take the right breadths, which may be quite difficult.

There are more pre-requisites than breadth. You take a sequence of six breadth subjects I think - you need seven prerequisites (Bio 1, Bio 2, Chem 1, Chem 2, Anatomy, Biochem, Physiology) - which means you'll probably have to do one of the units with an upfront payment.

But I just think it's so much easier to do BioMed or Science purely because you will have such a better preparation for MD, you don't want to start off as the guy who knows nothing in the MD course, not to mention Sci/BioMed probably prepares you for the GAMSAT better.

If you do the prereqs, you're not going to be the guy that knows nothing

Also this isn't undergrad, there are people doing the MD from all over, not just straight in
