2 3/4s in year 11, 4 in year 12 ? spesh without gma?

Hey there guys, so my school has been coming up to all the year 10s to chat about their subject selections, and ill give you the background info before i tell you the situation

my general knowledge; one of if not the highest in the school (and its a smart school), i do alot of trivia and things and win them all HAHAS, and also alot of knowledge about economics/politics/geography (father was in investment banking, and ive grown up watching bloomberg),
english; really good, vocabulary x498257428
maths; i am good at it, however i havent been trying at school and my results fluctuate from getting the highest score in the cohort by 10%, to getting 20%'s (they are hard tests/exams though LMAO) anyway, its basically because i havent been trying, and the teachers think that too,
ANYWAY

my subject selections were - 3/4 psych, 1/2 methods, gma, chem, eco, and eng. lang
the principal talked to me today and said that i can stick with this if i really want, but instead of gma, he thinks i should do geography 3/4 and legal 3/4(drop psych), and then if i do well in methods (average a's) i can do spesh methods eng. lang and chem in year 12, if not, then i can pick up another 3/4 in year 12 (probably gonna end up being eco),
my atar aim is high (99+) because without a scholarship or stipend ill end up with a hecs debt, and tbh i cbf with it LOL

anyway what do you think about
a) doing 3/4 geo 3/4 legal 1/2 methods 1/2 eng.lang 1/2chem 1/2 eco >>>>>>>> 3/4 methods 3/4 spesh 3/4 eng. lang.3/4 chem

b) spesh without gma? should i just do gma next year with only 1 3/4 and tough it out?

c)any other ideas? note; i cant do more than 2 3/4s next year, school policy,

sorry if this post is a mess but my brains pretty fried at the moment !
cheers guys !

Just pick the subjects you originally chose. It's about what you want, not what your principal wants. And Psych is awesome  :P

Doing Spesh without GMA is definitely manageable, but you're gonna have to do a fair bit of catch-up work over the holidays

I'm pretty sure you need to do general to get into spesh. Do you enjoy legal studies or psych more because there is no point studying something you're not all too keen for. Your options are one 3/4 plus GMA or GM.

Didn't you say you're getting tutored for GMA anyway? If so that should be fine.

Just on this... what are people's thoughts on the 2 and 4 vs. doing 2 and then the full 5? Anyone with past experience have recommendations as to how much a difference the 4 subjects make, if the 5 is worth it, etc?

I guess it depends on the subjects and the individual. If you do 1 and 5 (or 4) which actually a lot of people do, it's probably better if you're wanting to use a test year out. But if you want to go straight into it do a 2 then decide later about 4 or 5, but just be reminded that only 6 subjects go into your actual score.

with regards to your 2 and the 4/5 query

I did two 3/4s last year, and got decent scores in both of them. But my school being stubborn and whatnot forced me to do 5 subjects this year. I pretty much sleep/wag Bis man classes, so in essence I'm only really studying for 4. It's definitely a lot easier without an extra subject's pressure, and you can focus on your 'tougher' subjects ie. spesh and MOST IMPORTANTLY english/eng lang.

I guess what doing 5 in year 12 allows is a safety blanket if you do worse than expected in your two 3/4s in year 11. And remember that the majority of the rest of the state is doing 5 anyway, so you're at no inherent disadvantage for doing that extra subject.

My recommendation is to go into year 11 expecting to do 5 3/4s in yr 12, and if you're lucky and achieve what you want, you then have the freedom to drop the subject of your choice

Spec without GMA sounds really hard to me.. I don't know how it works at your school, but at mine we get taught all of year 12 Vectors, Complex Numbers and Trig in Year 11, we barely touched on them this year, so that'd be a lot to catch up on.
