Value of English Lectures [question]

Worth it? I'm going to Access/TSFX lectures for Psych, none for Theatre or Further, and I'm undecided on any English lectures.
Both Access and TSFX are running text-specific lectures and at the moment I'm probably going to go to all four for Access and undecided on TSFX.

My honest opinion? Nope, not at all.
Personally, I find reading the book, discussing it and reading the studyguide and then formulating my own opinion more beneficial. I therefore do most of the required work myself. I don't like being spoonfed, past tricks of the trade of what others have used. I guess it may help, but the examiners will reward you with what fresh food you have brought to the table. Look at how effectively you study on your own, and then judge:)

Yeah I'm pretty independent with my English work, just wondered whether it would be a nice addition. My school's traditionally one of the worst in the state with the exception of 2011, so my current way of thinking is maybe I'll pick something up that I wouldn't have used otherwise (maybe introductions are only meant to be like 80 words, and who knew?)
Ever been to a lecture Nisha?

LOL. Thats actually funny because I spent most of my holidays in the Summer at TSFX for all my subjects. I realised it doesnt work for me. I guess I get bored very quickly cannot concentrate fully after 2.5+ hours.

Look, if you want to do it, go for it. But IMO, I would just get a tutor for these final weeks (an extra eye to mark your work and give you constructive feedback) and re-read the AN studyguide for English. And read lots. And watch lots of educational movies (haha....).And just basically have an opinion of everything. Read the newspaper. Plus, it will save you money and time. Even form a studygroup with some friends you might have that go to different schools? Plus, after going to those dreaded lecturers I would find myself completely stuffed, then eat, then sleep and get absolutely no work done. But hey, thats just me.

Not sure how many subjects your friend took, but it costs around ~ $400 per subject.

Ight, I'll rule out TSFX for English then haha.
Was thinking about an AN study group for English. That'd be beast. 45 English median goes to: AN.

I love this idea. But how will it work since we are all doing different texts and contexts? Will we just focus on LA?

Yeah, I think just for LA only. How about context as well?

Well we could organise into diff texts. I know at least four people that are doing T.A.M, I'm sure there are more. The MHS kids could go with other people doing HIV etc, and we could group up for L.A. Not really sure how we would structure etc though. Originally I was going to run one within my own cohort which would've been relatively simple (just keep people on track etc.) but yeah, I thought of it when I realised you, Surgeon and Soul were all doing 12AM.

I reckon this would be an awesome idea....but where would this take place if ever it is to be conducted in the near future....online discussion?

If it were to be irl, any central location I suppose. Somewhere around the CBD. Only an hour on the train for me, dunno about others. I think when everyone is finished the course, around the holidays I'll open up a TAM discussion thread.
