did he actually dope, or is he just agreeing to it to stop having more tests and trials done?!
if the latter, that makes me cringe..

He's pretty much admitting that he did do it, seven Tour de France wins and an Olympic medal would be worth a few tests.

hes had over 500 tests. thats the most of any athlete. and they havent found a trace.
and im still confused..
according to yahoo 7,
Quote
He insisted the decision was not an admission of doping but prompted by weariness with the prolonged legal dispute.

Quote
He called the USADA investigation an "unconstitutional witch hunt."

"I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in winning my seven Tours since 1999," he said.

"The toll this has taken on my family and my work for our foundation and on me leads me to where I am today - finished with this nonsense."

i dont think he actually did

As far as I'm aware, the only evidence they have are allegations from a former teammate of Armstrong's. This teammate happened to have been busted for doping himself. Bitter much?

The fact that he's dropping the case and accepting a LIFETIME ban certainly tells you something though doesn't it? If he actually did dope, even once, i have no sympathy for him, especially for an athlete at his level. They should go down on him hard. If he didn't, then, hopefully we can clear this mess up.

Some people think doping in sport should be allowed (part of my pharmacology class) but thats a whole other issue..

He's been fighting allegations for over a decade. It's understandable that he'd drop them and just get on with his life. And I wouldn't be surprised if the allegations were true, but I'm not going to think otherwise until some actual evidence comes up. Innocent until proven otherwise.

My understanding was that they can re-test old samples for drugs that they were previously unable to test for, which is where the evidence against him is (aside from anecdotal evidence).

They can do that in some circumstances and they're claiming they have evidence that he is guilty, but nobody has seen it and it is apparently all witness based rather than scientific

I fail to see how this is newsworthy...

What are the ramifications in choosing not to challenge the claims? Do they just strip him of his titles and pack up?
It's really not that hard to quantify..., but I believe that being raped once is not as bad as being raped five times, even if the one rape was by a gang of people.

It will be interesting to see how this plays out from here.
