If it helps, one brother and one sister went to St. Mary's, whilst 2 brothers and one sister went to St. Hilda's so i know a little bit about them.

I'm applying for Hilda's first pref so fingers crossed I get in! From the stories of my brother who was there a couple of years ago, he had a blast and loved the atmosphere, from the crawls to the sports team and everything in between.

Colleges are fucking insane, it's just a lot of partying and a lot of drinking, and you get a lot of academic help, extra tutors on demand pretty much it's almost a very 'rich private school' kind of culture, also reinforced by the fact it's filled with prviate school kids (mostly cos they are the only ones that can afford college, it's damn expensive), a a general guide you'll find ormond filled with scotch guys and trinity filled with MGS guys. There is also a lot of friendly rivalry among the colleges.

Have several friends at college, it's a fantastic experience, you do tend to get stuck in a 'college bubble' though, not too bad a thing because there are a lot of people around.

Also currys (well really non-cacuacasions on the whole) are defs in the minority in colleges.

College bubble in the sense that it's really insular, which isn't just a party lifestyle

In the sense that you're surrounded by college people, the vast vast majority of your friends will be college people and the stuff you'll be doing outside class with be college stuff. Possible to still be a bit balanced, but it inherently takes up a lot of your lifestyle.

I know someone in my prac class who stays at queen's college and tbh it seems as though she is more disadvantaged now then if she were if she lived far away, all this partying/ tradition stuff at queens college can really affect your studies.

2012-2014. BSc: Neuroscience. University of Melbourne.
2015-2018. Doctor of Optometry. University of Melbourne.

Unlikely to respond to any PMs these days.
