My Orientals are sending me off to a Third World Country, because that is much safer than Schoolies.

As many have said, "schoolies" is not a code word for "sex, drugs and alcohol". You can have plenty of fun in a safe environment with a few close and trustworthy friends.

For example, I'm going camping with a few trustworthy friends for schoolies. None of them drink, do drugs or have sex, but we still know how to have fun the good ol' fashion way: telling scary stories by a campfire whilst roasting marshmallows. So long as we don't get attacked by a drop bear, we should be fine.
I'm looking forward to this :)

I keep getting confused as to what schoolies is I think... I thought it was some massive party up in the gold coast..

If people go camping, is that a schoolies thing or just their own holiday??

It can be any holiday you want. For example, people are going to Rosebud, Phillip Island, Geelong and even Melbourne. As long as it's done directly after exams to celebrate the end of school, then it counts as schoolies.

Ohh wow,

I was under the impression that schoolies was organised in many locations and you just went to a location and partied. I didn't think that it was anywhere, people alway asked me if I was going to schoolies and I always said no because I thought it was a party in QLD..

In that case, I doubt I'd have any issues with my curry parents..

Haha, that depends obviously  :D Anyone going to Queensland, won't be going with that intention for sure... I'd like to think a nice road trip across Victoria or Australia could provide some head clearing  :P

it would never work with my parents..unless I told them I was going to some spiritual/religious camp (but they'ld think it's too good to be true so they probably won't buy that  :P haha)

Hehehe  ;D

I'm led to believe that North Indian parents aren't that strict and Lankan parents are even less(apparently)... My parents are South Indian (Tamil) so they are staaariccctt as hell when it comes to going out.

And no, my parents would never believe me if I said that I was going to some religious camp  :P

Lads,

Many misconceptions about schoolies on this thread, and especially from those who haven't even been on it. I went up to the Gold coast-byron bay area with some good mates, and to be honest there are only a select few who are looking for trouble. For the most part everyone is there for a good time. Don't listen to the media reports all the time, while you do have to be wary, let your hair down and have a ripper time after school finishes.

Get around the end of school trips, you become even closer to your mates.
