Or just in general?

The topic of intimidation came up last night and I realised that I am intimidated when people use big words or complex sentences just in conversation and in turn, I wonder if people like that judge me for my simple way of writing or whatnot?

So generally, do you make a judgement on someone based on the way they type/language/sentence structure..?

Not so much on this, more so I construct an impression of someone based on aggressive language e.g. swearing

No there's nothing wrong with writing in a simple manner it's more about who you express yourself.

However if someone types like this "0mgZ liK diz $tatuz 4 a lik!1!" i generally have the impression that they are not very educated or have way too much time on their hands because it's clearly just easier typing in a normal manner.

My parents type a little like that, minus the random capital letters. Apparently it is easier, haha.

It all depends on the context I believe, if you're talking to someone via facebook chat I don't think it's necessary to say things in the same manner as you would in a philosophical discussion or an academic essay for example.

I guess to an extent it's innate. Whenever I talk to someone I've never met before, be it over the phone, in person or whatever, you subconsciously judge the person you're with. How else does the concept of first impressions arise?

A little in online forums but it would be something that I keep to myself. In real life, absolutely esp. if they swear too much and sometimes if a person speaks in a way that is just arrogant and snobby but that's normally first impressions once you get to know the person then it kind of eases off.

Yes! Totally. I've had to really work at not believing things just because someone wrote them well. I also harshly judge people who write in all-caps or using difficult to understand netspeak.

Well on not using big words, I don't judge people. A simply put sentence, well conveyed and understandable by all is far more valuable than a mass language-vomit.
However in regards to judging people, I absolutely do. Not really consciously. I mean, if I'm talking to someone on Facebook who perhaps is a friend of a friend that was introduced online or something, and they use "You're", automatically I go "sweet as, correct word." On the other hand, if I'm talking to someone and they say "Yeah I defiantly like chocolate better", I can't help but fit them into a category. Like. It's definitely. Totally different words. I think it's only natural, really. If someone writes like an idiot it's hard not to think of them as an idiot.

Also, I think it's still relatively on topic - what are people's problems with swearing? Interested. Irl I swear quite a lot, not so much on here but probably more than most.

I don't swearing. I was raised not to swear and I go by that. Words like "freaking", "crap" and "shit" are the extent of my bad language but I don't go any further than that. F-word is off limits. Although, on that note, I don't really judge people for swearing. If someone has the word "f***" in their vocab, well, whatever. It only becomes a problem for me when someone overly swears like "I f***ing ate a f***ing cupcake, c***, it was as tasty as f***" ..if it gets like that then it is just a bother to listen to.
