Relates to Bruce Dawe specifically with consumerism. Once one utterly follows a group true flourishment becomes impossible. The norm despite being safe is limiting, making it a choice that can greatly erode one's welfare to the extent their path leaves no trace as it has been categorised with many others - lost in a mass.

Relates to conformity and how despite physically belonging to a group we can feel totally isolated.
