Just remember that with Section B (Context) pieces, you're never writing ABOUT a text, you're drawing IDEAS from a text, it's two very different concepts. If you start thinking of it as "drawing ideas from" - you'll be more focused in the right direction, reading the text with an emphasis on the ideas the author brings up.
That's what i thought i achieved with my implicit referencing lol.
It also made it quite clear I was not summarising, instead I was adapting the play to talk about the ideas more seamlessly... Not sure what went wrong :(

Until next year when it will be replaced by Death of a Salesman.
That's pretty exciting - Streetcar is an awesome play but Death of a Salesman is possibly my favourite Arthur Miller play. Do you know if the Crucible is being taken out of the syllabus next year, or will there be two Arthur Miller texts?
Yeah Crucible won't be on the list next year.

In regards to Bazza's question, I would just directly quote the quote from the book if I was doing an expository essay. Don't worry, it won't sound too text responsey unless you started talking about the characters' qualities too much/rambling on about the plot and not how they dealt with their reality.
If you did, a friend once told me  "I couldn't believe my sister and go living with my husband" it sounds a bit too complaining/diary-entry like, and not expository. Doesn't really go with the flow. Personalized form should just be done in hybrids or creative pieces imo.
BUT if it was a feature article then I would do something like interviewing a person (could be the character from the actual book/or made-up person in similar situation) and write the quote there and then start elaborating.

EDIT: oh wait, you are doing a feature article. I thought you were doing expository essay but then changed your mind to do feature article. I don't get what's wrong with the 'friend once told me' thing then :S

Hmmm. From what you are saying it sounds like you are doing the right thing.
If you have the time you should post it on here and get some of the fab english mods to have a read.

I'm considering reverting to a pure essay form, without a context or the unnecessary need to make it authentic.
Worth it :S ? What are you guys doing?

thank's for the help :D

After quite a bit of consideration I've decided i'll stick to what I've well in SACs and practiced mostly throughout the year which is a expository feature article form.

I'll adapt it a bit and change it so that I can make sure i have a good relation to the text

I've begun to write Timed essays (aiming for at least 1 a day), but I think that starting out is the biggest challenge at the moment.

I'm not sure if I'm trying to write too much, but today I felt like I really rushed my essay (tbh the LA article was really bad) and I kinda felt as if a lot of my expression was hampered because of the timing. Does anybody have a similar issue? I can't write with the same "flair" when I actually have the time to relax and think things through...When everything is timed, everything sounds more casual, more repetitive, and way less sophisticated.

Is writing 1100 for an essay too much? :/

In the exam i would aim for about 2 to 2.5 pages per essay, restricting the time down to about 50-55 mins each excluding planning time. In that duration I could acheive around 400 words per page, therefore my essay would span to around 800-1000 words in length (if i restrict my handwriting font that is). Hence, 1100 may not be too much as long as you can write fast and maintain a sustatinable speed throughout the exam.

As long as your essays are coherent, fluent, concise and perceptive, you'll be fine! And also as long as you can write them all under time... If I remember correctly, both my text response and context pieces in the exam were around 6 pages each (1600 words in my handwriting) and I scored 19/20 and 20/20 for those. But obviously - quality over quantity as well!!!
