Hey guys, Anyone know if i can still achieve a 40 for further? I am in a fairly average cohort although i feel like our sacs were quite hard and i am aiming for 98-100% on both exams.
Rank: Probably top 10

Unit 3: 88%
Unit 4: 90%

Trial exam 1: 95%
Trial exam 2: 98%
Thanks.

40 is definitely doable especially with those exam scores. However, every cohort does differ so those respective scores can get you anywhere between 38-43

Biology 3/4
Cohort strength (medium), rank between 10-20 (not too sure)

Unit 3 SACS= 85%

Unit 4 SACS= 88%

Exam score= about 109/120 (or above 90% min.)

SS of 40+?

Anyone?
2020: Biology [39]
2021: English [~44+], Methods [~43+], Specialists [~36+], Chemistry [~44+], Philosophy [40+]
ATAR: ~99+

English
Unit 3: 78/100 (assume at bottom of top half of average cohort 170 ppl)!

Unit 4: 62.3/70 (90%) in top quarter of cohort of 170 ppl

Exam: 45-48/60

What would I need for a 40? Could this be enough? Please and thank you  :D

That can get you anywhere between 37-42 (RAW) depending on the strength of your cohort.

Hi all,
Is anyone able to estimate my potential study score for English?
Unit 3: 84%
Unit 4: 84%
I am in an average cohort with a few kids getting above the 90s. I have no idea what rank I am but probably the top end.
I got back my trial exam a week ago and I was so disappointed with it as I got 5,8 and 7 for section A, B and C, respectively. I also haven't studied for English that much so I am overly stressing as the exam is sooo soon lool. I don't even know what to expect now and i am just hoping for at least 7 on each section at this point. If I got 40-42/60 on the exam how much will this affect my study score and my SAC grade moderation? I am just worried i will ruin my study score from a terrible exam mark even though I got decent sac scores.
Thanks.

Look, I realise everyone including myself are worried about their study scores despite exams being near by, but I honestly feel that you may perform better on the exam if you don't know what to get on each section and overall on the exam so I suggest giving it your best shot and you'll hopefully do amazing. However, if you think it will give you a sense of comfort knowing what a "40-42/60" will result in, it varies since every cohort is different in terms of their size and strength, but usually it is a study score of 35-39 RAW.

Another thing to consider is the pandemic this year. It can vary a lot of things, a lot, including the moderation process which means my estimate may not be useful so once again, make sure to not stress! I'm sure it'll be a good feeling when you leave that exam room and never think of English again [unless you do further studies in English/literature LOL]

Seriously though, good luck to everyone and don't stress too much about study scores and give it your best shot - I'm sure VCAA don't want to look like fools by torturing students during a world wide pandemic. All the best!!

Hi, thanks so much for responding. English has been a subject that has surprised me the most this year and i never thought i would get the sac marks i did. There is just this saying that if you 'choke' the exam, your study score is ruined and that just freaks me out and at this point would love to just get English over and done with. Also, i heard the GAT can make a difference if you supposedly do worse on the exam than expected. How significant is this difference? because i felt i went pretty well on the GAT (Writing sections).

English definitely is an unpredictable subject haha!

For a subject like English, if you "choke" the exam, your hard work will not go down the drain that quick since the sacs weigh same amount as the exam (50-50). I wouldn't worry about choking the exam - walk in confident, leave with a smile of relief on your face!

Typically, the GAT does make somewhat of a difference, i.e. the GAT can only drag you up and not bring you down. For instance, if you do amazing on the GAT and on the exam day, something happens and you don't perform to your required standard, then they will use your GAT to boost you (but cannot bring you down).

Tbh I haven't heard of anyone being incremented a significant amount by the GAT.

However, I must say that this year will be different since the education minister on numerous occasion emphasised the importance of the GAT this year so it's a good sign that you feel good about the writing sections!

Subject- chemistry

Unit 3 SACS: 94.1%
Unit 4 SACS: 92.5%

If I get a high A+ on the exam what study score should I be looking at? like 110 or so or a tiny bit higher

School MHS [overall hard sacs this year]

Subject Englis

Unit 3 SACS: 77.5%
Unit 4 SACS: 75%

If I get 7/7/7 on exam could I get a 37?

MHS- idk how English sacs scale at mhs

Anyone?
I had very similar sac marks last year, and I also think I got the same exam mark after going through last years exam report, which ended up getting me a 46 raw.
However I was rank 4 in my cohort, so I'm not sure how your ranking might affect my estimations, but if your cohort is strong, then a 40 plus is almost guaranteed.

For chemistry, with rank 1 SACs for both units, what approximate score out of 120 would be safe for a 45?

I would say on average Maybe 110/120? Could be higher if it's an "easy" exam e.g. 2015. Would be lower if it was a tougher exam like 2018/2019.

Hi!
Assuming high A+ grades for GA 1 and 2, what exam score out of 120 for psychology would be safe for at least a 45?

Thanks!
