how to get a gold diploma - mhs

hi guys i go to mhs and am wondering what involvement(s) do you have to do in order for you to achieve a gold diploma. If you could possibly give me a number or the different involvements (eg.public speaking) that could enhance your chances for receiving the award.

Diploma is rubbish and you'll never get to use it.

If srs, just join Debating + do Music and join a bunch of little clubs. Most important of all, get an academic award.

At MHS, every student gains "points" by involving themselves in the co-curricula program, while also maintaining academic achievement. You need a certain amount of "points" to get a Gold/Silver/Bronze diploma, meaning you have to involve yourself in more clubs/leadership positions.

At my school we have a Gold Certificate of Excellence. The teachers make a big deal of it, and therefore, students aspire towards achieving it. Pretty much the same requirements to obtain one as it is at MHS.

I used to think it was something quite prestigious, something nice to add on the resume for job applications? After reading these posts, I'm not sure ~ if all you people justify it as being a waste of time, then it might be?

I think its more of the way the system is done at MHS, with a huge focus on musical involvement (where you can get bucketloads of points) whereas some kids who play sports, (a couple of my friends who play 5/6) and they've got about a quarter as some of the musos.

I think the possible benefits are only that it may motivate you to become involved in the school, which you COULD put on your resume, but you need to make sure you're not doing it solely for the points, which is what inevitably ends up happening with the competitive culture that is MHS

Honestly, it's the worst thing ever to get to MHS (other than vce physics)

Reasons:
1) it is useless
2) it is a cheap rip of the Duke of Edinburgh award
3) it makes people do activities because they want some stupid points rather than because they're passionate
4) there is absolutely no way to get it unless you have academic awards and music contributions

btw mukesh if you're not in yr9 right now, you've pretty much got 0 chance of getting one by now.
