Egh .. not good.

I spent an hour on the analysis, about 45 min into the exam I just started thinking oh damnit, I've still got to analyse the other article. So then I wrote a really hurried PoV in about 15 minutes (so I doubt it was any good), and then went for part 2 and part 1. However after screwing myself time-wise on the analysis I was kinda not thinking that clearly for the part 1 and 2. I finished it but, gah, it's not going to be very good.

The thing that sucks is, I was ranked #2 in the first semester and #3 in the second... so, that means my SAC scores will be A or A+ for both semesters, but my exam will be terrible (perhaps a C?). Any idea how bad this study score will be?

melanie.dee ... i know exactly how you feel ... after german and english ive now stuffed up two of my best subjects. i guess the only thing we can do now is keep our mind on the exams to come and do our best for them.

could somebody please copy the exam criteria into here?

i didnt really address the pov question because im an idiot, so i wanted to see how many marks i could get for that. probably no more than 3 or 4. sigh

yep iv stuffed up french and english. and although i was devastated with french, now iv stuffed up english so badly, my french stuff up is looking minor in comparison haha. lets hope our orals wernt as bad as though, we might be nicely surprised. and try really hard for the lote writtens

and english.. well i highly doubt you've done as badly as you think, all the essays you've posted have been exceptional, and you are thinking about how off topic your pov because you KNOW you didnt write it trying to answer the topic.. the examiner will go into reading assuming that you've done it in answer to the topic.. therefore, if there are things in that relate it to the question, they probably wont even realise it wasnt done to the topic.. i mean sure they might be like ooh thats a bit irrelevant, but that'll just lose you a couple of marks.. i doubt you're looking at a 3! i on the end hand, wrote about 2 sentences for mine therefore <2 lol

you also have 3 amazing scores already! i think 3, right lol? so really, you've got no problems, sure english might not be quite as high as you wanted, but you'll still get an amazing score

As long as you wrote on the issue, refering to the material, you'll qualify as relevant in your response, don't even worry about it

Well I'm pretty pleased with how the exam worked out.

I did I'm Not Scared for Part 1- 6 pages (big writing)
I did Look Both Ways for Part 2- 6 pages also
Media analysis was good- 4 pages
Letter to the editor was a bit rushed but I think I did okay- 3 pages

Essentially I thought it was a really good exam- The I'm Not Scared question for Part 2--- I almost answered it but then changed my mind! It was the most bizarre question! Anyone agree? So glad I didn't answer it.

yea i thought im not scared part 2 qn was whack..so i had to do hamlet there....part 1 hamlet and imnotscared were both appealing so i was covered

mmm .... yeah you're right. thanks .... i actually feel a bit better now after reading what you said :)

btw, just remember, at least you've written something substantial for 3 out of 4 things. i know ppl from my school who wrote at most one and half pages for each thing and just sat there for the rest of the time. (considering i go to a private school. NOT saying private schools are better, just that mine can afford to hire teachers who are/have been examiners, extra helpers, speakers for each text etc and they still couldn't write more than a couple of pages at most)

so you're most likely still better off than half the state i reckon

BA22 i sincerely hope you're right! i was so upset about it ... i think i was hyperventilating cos i was crying so hard lol

hmm I think I did okay, I spent a little too long on the analysis and had to rush my p.o.v wrote about 3 pages for each text response and the analysis, and 2 for my p.o.v

my friend told me she spent TWO HOURS on her analysis...including 1 hr of annotating, omg!

and another finished 45 mins early....I finished like 2 minutes before the lady said pens down so I'm very relieved that I got it all done in time. In my trial exams I always ran out of time

do you mean this criteria?

Section 2 ? Writing task (Part 2)
6. ability to present a point of view which shows awareness of purpose, audience and form in shaping the piece of writing
7. knowledge and understanding of the material presented
8. control of expressive and effective language appropriate to the task

i think if your p.o.v. didn't specifically address the question asked, but it did relate to the general issue then you could still get a fairly o.k. mark.  the question was fairly broad anyway, so i don't think they'd be ultra fussed if you p.o.v. didn't exactly relate to it...but i'm not an assessor so what do i know? lol

but you still receive marks for other points like control of language etc. so don't worry too much.  it's over now, just try to concentrate on the exams you have left.  don't waste a whole afternoon of potential studying worrying about something you can't change now.

*chin up* :)

did anyone do man for all seasons pt 2 topic? id be interested to know what people put i liked it, but obviously spent to long on it, even though i liked it, i couldnt really pull my ideas together properly

i also struggled so much writing the part 1 essay. i scribbled out 2 attempted intros because they sounded like part 2 intros and i thought i was writing a part 2 essay. mostly because it was a question on a theme that comes up a lot in part 2 as well (the look both ways question, that is)
