The Language Analysis was frustrating because it was so straight forward, there was no depth to the piece and as such, apart from one or two pretty insightful observations, my piece was way to generic. Would expect an 8 at most.
The prompt for the context essay was a gift, something like "Our experiences with conflict changes our priorities", having analysed Paradise Road this was not hard at all, would feel very hard done by with a 7.
I did my text response on A Christmas Carol, and while the prompts seemed reasonable, I didn't use evidence that well to support that "generosity is more than just donating money" (again something like that...) though so while my piece in itself was solid, the fact that my evidence wasn't that related to the prompt has me worried.
TBH the exam was harder then I expected, I had been doing lots of revision and was starting to consistently get grades of 8+/10 from my English assessor teacher, the fact that I think a 9 is the highest I'll get, is discouraging. I was hoping that the language analysis would be really hard and instead it was the exact opposite (making it hard to stand out), and the text response I simply didn't handle well (though the prompts were quite good). Luckily the context essay was a piece of cake and grades should reflect that (touch wood)
