but no p value means no conclusions because you cannot infer anything from the figures right?

what did you guys write for the question about the parrot
and what learning technique could be used to teach molly to speak...something along those lines

Unlearned behaviour: hatching from egg
Learned behaviour: screeching when the door opens
Learning technique: shaping

I did operant conditioning...so the stimulus is the guy saying hello, the response is the parrot saying hello and the consequence is a reward...
I DID THE EXACT SAME THING!
Isn't shaping used in behaviours which are difficult for organism to produce naturally, e.g. a pigeon turning full circle. Whereas repeating words is normal for a parrot. So I think you are right with operant conditioning..

i said classical conditioning.. this is because i believed (even though it had nothing to do with it) that behaviours were mainly created by classical conditioning using positive reinforcement (ie. food), and maintained through operant (phobias). so i just said for the parrot to repeatedly associate the NS being the food with the UCS being the guy saying the word, which would eventually result in the parrot saying the word (UCR), or something like that... i was going to do shaping but for some odd reason i had it in my head that they wanted classical conditioning because the question had the word "elements" in it... i have no idea what i was thinking to be honest.. :/.. hope they accept it, pretty shoddy answer by me

I said she could use denial or venting (I said vent her stress though which doesn't make that much sense.)

Did anyone put challenge for the primary appraisal question? Do you think they'd accept that or did it have to be harm/loss?
Nope. I did harm and threat but you might still get it.

Hey what did you all say for the fMRI one?

i talked about how an fMRI scan does not require the individual to consume/be injected with a radioactive substance

what do you think was required in the question about fmri?
and the reasons why psychologists and psychiatrists use a classification system of mental conditions and disorders?
i also wasn't sure about why a conclusion couldn't have been drawn in the question with arijana and the graph of stress responses.

i don't think my answers were specific enough...

I don't even know what I was doing during the exam.

For the fMRI question, I didn't read the "advantage" part as "advantage over other brain-imaging techniques". I interpreted the question as "why is it good to use an fMRI to specifically identify changes in the brain during learning while someone is undertaking a learning task."
So I wrote something like:
- it can display and highlight active parts of a functioning brain whilst someone is undertaking a learning task
- which shows the key areas of the brain involved in learning.
Hopefully all of that is worth 1 mark out of 2, ha.

For the Polly question, I was going to write about observational learning but I figured it'll be difficult to get the parrot's attention (maybe parrot doesn't know how famous or well-liked you are ;)). So then I was going to write about operant conditioning but my mind derped so I wrote about shaping.
- Said it was unlikely for Polly to say words at random
- Reward for any successive approximations of a word (correct 1st syllable)
- After a while, reward only when 1st and 2nd syllable are correct, and then only when 3rd is correct.

For the psychologists and psychiatrists using classification system of mental condition and disorders,
I wrote:
- To diagnose patients according to their symptoms and level of functionality (<= not even sure if necessary to say)
- To then devise a suitable treatment plan

I don't know. -shrugs-

I am 99% sure shaping was meant to be used for the parrot, it's a learning technique and it looks like you explained it really well!
Your answers to the others seem really good as well, not sure why you think your mind derped!

for the fmri question I believe they wanted students to make a point about how it shows both structure and function because that is its main advantage

There could be numerous acceptable answers :) I thought that I would answer it by referring to the fact that it can assist mental health professionals in identifying areas responsible for particular types of learning. Thus, relating back to this units focus :)
