I don't even know what I was doing during the exam.
For the fMRI question, I didn't read the "advantage" part as "advantage over other brain-imaging techniques". I interpreted the question as "why is it good to use an fMRI to specifically identify changes in the brain during learning while someone is undertaking a learning task."
So I wrote something like:
- it can display and highlight active parts of a functioning brain whilst someone is undertaking a learning task
- which shows the key areas of the brain involved in learning.
Hopefully all of that is worth 1 mark out of 2, ha.
For the Polly question, I was going to write about observational learning but I figured it'll be difficult to get the parrot's attention (maybe parrot doesn't know how famous or well-liked you are

). So then I was going to write about operant conditioning but my mind derped so I wrote about shaping.
- Said it was unlikely for Polly to say words at random
- Reward for any successive approximations of a word (correct 1st syllable)
- After a while, reward only when 1st and 2nd syllable are correct, and then only when 3rd is correct.
For the psychologists and psychiatrists using classification system of mental condition and disorders,
I wrote:
- To diagnose patients according to their symptoms and level of functionality (<= not even sure if necessary to say)
- To then devise a suitable treatment plan
I don't know. -shrugs-
